I think you have taken the first approach - have you tried the second to see if that makes any difference?

I don't have a DFP, so I could be wrong, but I think you need to set the Wheel turn compensation to zero.

If you download a WR replay and save the RAF file from that, then you can 'Add Replay' to compare your lap against the WR lap (you can add several different laps too).

Then you'll start to wonder how they can pull nearly 3G in a FOX and floor the throttle without spinning

Quote from nikimere :nice one

Sorry, I had a problem at work, so didn't get home until way after it finished. I will still have a go at finding the channel for future runs though.

Quote from nikimere :anyone know if you can tune that station into your sky digibox?

Dunno, but I'm gonna try tonight... I'll let you know if I manage it.

One I saw on these forums 'used to be' a Microsoft Sidewinder Wheel, but the owner had dismantled the wheel, taken out the relevant controller board and taped it to the underside of the pedals (discarding the rest of the wheel).

Wow. Thanks for the time you've obviously put in there.

I'll knock off some wing, and focus on the slow in, bit and practice 'til the burning smell coming from my wheel gets too much

Thanks again mate.

OK, here's a lap of mine - I've gone back to my old setup and tried to take on board the tips.

I know I missed the apex on T3, but I don't know of any other mistakes?

Thanks for looking

Here's my GBR A1GP skin.

I have posted this previously on this forum, but not on this thread.

Feel free to use it.

Thanks to Ian.H at dS Autos for the render scene.

I've got a Microsoft Sidewinder FF and I'm not that impressed with the FF. It feels sort of 'notchy'. I do want to try out a DFP to see different the 'feel' is.

The rubber grips on the wheel have started to come away from the plastic in the last few months too, but it has lasted me about 5 years of arcade games before LFS so I can't complain about it's quality.

This thread's great.

I too have knocked over a second off my PB (mid 1:10s now) with Tristan's tips and set. However, I'm not consistent now - I keep spinning on T1/T2 as well. Now I don't know yet if it's the setup or me just pushing harder - I'm going to try my old set again and see the difference. (But not until tomorrow night now due to work. Booo. )

Thanks guys...

Thanks for the nice words.

It's available for use in the skins section somewhere.

My A1GP-alike FOX.

It was my first real attempt at a skin and took me bloody ages

First ever render - only the skin is my own.

Thanks to Ian.H at dS Autos for the scene. Apologies for the size - limited by the free 'learning edition' of Brazil Rio. Now the learning needs to begin!!!

The only 'sponsor' logos I've seen are the "Sky Sports" on the side pods, which I have included. I've put on the "GBR" and A1GP decals in the right(-ish) places. The only things I know are missing are the filler caps, driver name and emergency decals.

Feel free to use it - it'd be nice to see a few knocking around
Great Britain A1GP Skin - My first 'Proper' skin

As it says in the title, I've not done any real skinning before, so when I looked at the http://greatbritain.a1gp.com/ website, I thought I'd have a go. As I can't really keep the F08 on the black stuff, I settled for the FOX (even though the F08 is probably better matched).

Here's a look at it - any comments, suggestions and constructive criticism welcomed

I recently replaced my Prophet 2 MX 32MB with an ATI Radeon 9550 256MB (it was < £50) and increased my FPS from 15-20 to between 40 & 60 depending upon how many other cars are running.

My rig is AMD XP2000 512MB DDR not o/c.

Apparently, the 9550 is pretty good for overclocking, but I haven't felt the need.

Heehee. You can have some fun with this.

Nice one Fonnybone.

Mine's working at 0.5P with a Q-level LFS and the P files from Bob Smith up there

I've had a couple of error messages loading presets, but it does retrieve the values - you just need to twiddle a setting to enable the Apply button.

Does your Motherboard have a Via chipset?

I had a similar problem with my Radeon 9550.

It turned out to be a common problem with Via drivers.

Do a google for "Infinite loop" & VIA (although I thought that it only affected ATI cards)

I fixed mine with the solution here -> http://forums.viaarena.com/mes ... 1=%22infinite+AND+loop%22

I'd recommend Bob Smiths 'Easy Race' setups rather than team inferno ones - they are much more forgiving for us newbies.

I think they're stickied in the "Car setups" forum on here.

I'm 28* next birthday.

And it looks like it's going to take another 28* years before I can compete!

Hmmm. I've got a 5-6 year old gameport FF Sidewinder running on the standard XP drivers and my pedals do work as 'separate'? I don't remember having to do anything when I installed XP - it just recognised the wheel - and configuring LFS was easy too?

I'm at work at the moment, but I'll have a look when I get home to see if I can see anything.

<edit> Just thought - I am running XP SP2 - I wonder if there's an update to the drivers in there?

Thanks for the setups. As a recent starter, these make life so much easier!

Thanks again

F1 Clutch Activation

Am I correct in thinking that F1 cars still have hand-operated clutches? If so, are they buttons or levers on the wheel?

I know that they used to have buttons on the steering wheel in the days of launch control but since that was outlawed I've lost track of what they use now.
