Looking for a car myself now. You guys should feel lucky. I've been scouring the net hunting down simply a decent work runner car that can tag in with kid hauling and family runner now and then with a manual transmission. Nothing has a freaking manual over here! Grrrrrr!

I have a few prospects, but it is 100 miles this way, then 100 miles that way, and another one 100 miles north, and another 100 miles south...

Plenty of cheap new cars over here now as well. Problem is, no one has the cheap ones in stock. They are all loaded up with dealer options turning a $10,000 car into an $18,000 car, and again, nothing with a manual!

A dealer should be able to get what I want, but how do I not waste my time and his time when there is nothing to look at before it is ordered? Can't test drive a stupid CVT transmission and base buying a 5 speed on that. I can get a $13k Nissan Sentra with a supplier discount for under $10k or a $9000 Nissan Versa for a work runner for probably about $6000 new, but there's nothing to go see.

It is getting increasingly frustrating buying a car over here. Everything has a girlamatic.

Quote from matijapkc :If you click on the link it says FCUK. Check it before writing posts like this.

See, I did check it, because I saw in the link it was a .com.au site. I clicked the link and I see "French Connection", I see "Select your country AUSTRALIA", I see an ad that says "Further Markdowns....", and I see the typical headings that you would see on a clothing site. No where does it have the letters FCUK.

This time looking again, I had to scroll the tabs because I have a bunch of them open. There it is. I don't normally examine what is on the Firefox tabs when looking at a site. That is the only place it is. It is not on the website anywhere.

You linked to an Australian site, you are in Australia, but yet you chose to use the UK designation. It is obvious that you intentionally used UK just to make your game name that way. If you are from Australia, why didn't you use F.C.A.U.?

Here in the US, what SidiousX and logitekg25 are speaking of doesn't bother me in the least. I live right near a highly traveled interstate in which at the only gas station I have local for me is packed with foreigners. I have no idea what nationality they are, but they come in very nice cars, dressed very nice, and pull out wads of cash to pay for their stuff. When I say wads, I'm talking 3 inch thick at least of folded in half bills. I wish I knew where they got their money and where they are all traveling to because I'd like in on it too, but.....

Folks speaking their languages doesn't bother me. I've worked through the years with several folks from Japan and several folks from Mexico. Japan is where the parent company is, and we frequently have folks from our Mexico plant visit. My previous boss was from Japan and he took the joking well when he would talk to us, in English, and we would joke about not understanding him. The guys from Mexico would start talking amongst themselves and we'd jokingly yell at them that we speak English in this country.

What bothers me is, any time I have to call anywhere on the phone, I have to sit and listen to everything on the automated system in English, then listen to it all in Spanish. It drives me crazy when I have to listen to "For blah blah blah, press 1." then it repeats in Spanish. "For blah blah blah, press 2" then repeats in Spanish, and I have to listen to all of it because inevitably it will be the option 7 that I need. Even products on the store shelves, everything is written in English, then in Spanish underneath it. It's not the folks that are hear legally that is the problem, it is the damn government catering to the illegal immigrants as they are the ones who can't speak the language of this country.

Quote from BlakjeKaas :Don't like the ads.

And what's the difference between PCW and PCL?

Pixel Car Life came about from someone with an original idea while Pixel Car World saw a good original idea and copied it now thinking it is their own?

Think CLC and then all the copycat cruise servers that think theirs are original.

Posted some photos a while ago playing with the camera and the guitar. Processed this one that I took that day. Boy I wish I could get the DOF you guys get. This is the best I could do....

Already posted some shots from my trip to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. I drove my family 1100 miles to get away from the stress of work for a week, and what is the very first thing I see when I arrived at the resort? Work!!!!! I saw the following first thing sitting outside the check-in.

These are called Gorilla Blocks. They are made from expanded polypropylene beads molded in a steam molding press. During the R&D trials of the colored EPP beads that I produce, I was the only one in the world to produce colored EPP bead. Shortly after, we quit expanding the orange material, which you can't see in the speckled pieces in the photo, and went into production with 2 other guys joining in the expanding of the material. Thus I know for a fact that 1100 miles trying to get away from work, these are molded from the material that I expanded about 3 years ago.

Already posted up my shot of the Epcot sphere, globe, ball, or whatever it is called. Here's a couple more shots of it. Everyone has a shot of this, but it is just so cool....

Another building that was in Epcot, Disneyworld. Now I can't remember what it even was. I think the "attraction" in it was down for renovations, so we never went in.

Took this shot for a thread on the Disneyworld forums titled, "Show me a photo a normal tourist wouldn't take." It is in the rafters of one of the shows.

And 2 randoms from around Disneyworld. First one is supposedly the Jenny from Forest Gump, but I'm sure it's just a replica. Second one is just a random photo from the porch of one of the buildings...

Final photo, my oldest daughter came to LOVE the rollercoaster type rides. What did the 6 year old love? Cotton Candy!

Quote from RiseAgainstMe! :I'm guessing Toyota Motor Corporation

Toyota, just like all other manufacturers including your (as in the population of this board's) beloved perfect can do no wrong BMW, produce automobiles. They do not produce parts of automobiles. Other manufacturers produce the parts and sell to Toyota.

Toyota is now coming into scrutiny because back around 2005ish or so, maybe earlier, the CEO was recorded and shown on the news here in the US stating that they need to start cutting costs.

I am guessing that due to the legendary reliability and dependability history of Toyota, they do not know how to cut costs in the bits and pieces that they use to assemble their cars. They have already streamlined the process with stuff like FIFO, Lean Manufacturing, and all the other buzz words that the parts manufacturers try to pick up on from Toyota.

Toyota, just like every other manufacturer, takes quotes from their parts suppliers. They supply the general design and the supplier bids for the parts. Toyota then approves or disapproves the quote, supplier builds the tooling or part, submits a capability study, and is awarded the job or not. There is more than one supplier doing this in which it is up to the vehicle manufacturer to chose the quality of supplier vs. cost. Many manufacturers go with the lowest quote, thus many times the lowest quality. Toyota has a history with top quality and that sounds like it changed since the turn of the century.

You will be happy to know that your beloved BMW will share some parts suppliers with Toyota. BMW will also share some parts suppliers with your hated " crappy American" manufacturers as well. I know, I've worked for one of those parts suppliers for 15 years, 6 of them in the quality department and 9 of them in the Research, Development, and Technology department.

It all boils down to cost vs. quality. When process improvement is nearly plateaued, cost reduction will start into the quality sector. Toyota is top dog in the auto manufacturer, and now wants to become even bigger. The only thing left for them to do in combating cost is to move on to messing with parts supply quality.

The problem is, you all are making fun of this thread now for 2 pages. You are talking about stealing someone else's avatar when in reality, every day you all violate copyrights on images you use in your avatars. If someone comes on the forum with obviously cracked content of LFS, you all jump all over that person, yet you think that it is OK to just freely grab any image off the web and violate copyrights, doing the very thing you all jump on others for doing.

And yes, I also did the same thing to the left, only I'm not one of the ones all over this forum yelling at others for it.

What I really love is the photography forums and people yelling about copyrights. You look at their avatars and they do the same thing, violate copyrights for avatars.

Wait 2 months, then play the latest game that just came out.

Is that 9800GT from your old computer? That is why you can play. I highly doubt you can buy a computer today with a 9800GT in it, thus your new computer was probably onboard video and not capable of playing Crysis.

I can't even play LFS on my computer with onboard graphics. About the best I could run is Nascar Racing 2003. Anything newer than that and I'm toast. Even FS9 doesn't run very well.

I put a card in it (I overheated the card a while back) and it wasn't even a very good card. I went from unplayable LFS to 90 FPS, unplayable FS9 to unlimited FPS, NR2003 I can run well enough with lowered settings, but was completely maxed with the GFX card. Even TDU and GTASA ran fantastic with the crappy cheap card. On the onboard, both of those are slideshow video.

Quote from Klutch :Man i can barely order a pizza when stoned, let alone figure out how to work a clutch.

Pizza was easy. Had a friend who was manager of a Pizza Hut. We just called up, asked for the manager, asked if there were any "mistakes" that night, and by the time we got down there, we had 4-5 pizzas waiting for us at no charge

Quote from speedway :Oh please, we have been over this before: You may know how to operate a car, but ffs you do not know how to drive.

Quote from Matrixi :An eventful challenge. Some lady in a mk3 Golf very nearly crashed in to me while changing lanes last week. Apparently she was too busy concentrating on her GPS to actually turn her head or indicate before switching lanes. :gnasher:

75 mph down the highway an hour into my 18 hour drive to our vacation destination. A deer jumped over the guardrail onto the roadway directly in front of me. In the time that it took me to react and brake from 75 mph I was able to check all 3 mirrors. I was able to determine the path of least damage as I already knew there was a car coming up behind me. I could see that I could brake and steer left to completely avoid the deer. But by already knowing that there was a car coming and anticipating that they would swerve into the left lane to avoid me braking, I was able to see them moving into the other lane up beside me and I swerved over off the side of the road (plenty of space, but not quite enough) to attempt to avoid the deer. I couldn't avoid it completely and ended up caving in the very bottom corner of my bumper.

Someone who thinks they can drive but only knows how to operate the vehicle would have either hit straight into the deer smashing everything in front of the car rendering it useless after 6 months of planning a family vacation a mere hour into it or totaled two cars.

By knowing how to "drive" as opposed to only knowing how to operate a vehicle, I had already known what was coming up behind me and how they would react and was able to continue on with our family vacation with nothing more than a dented in bumper corner and no damage to the lighting system, cooling system, and more importantly, any damage to another's vehicle or potential injury to myself, my family, or another individual or family in the other car.

The impact with the deer was probably less than 10 mph.

Quote from hazaky :Done with my crappy Sony Ericsson K530i camera + alot of photoshop.

Crappy camera phone or not, it looks fantastic!

I have a ton of pictures as I just got back from Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida yesterday. Unfortunately, now something happened with the graphics of the old worn out computer and every time I move my mouse, the screen flickers uncontrollably. It is horrible and even websurfing is difficult.

Was just going to connect up the work laptop since all the pictures are on there anyways, and found out my keyboard isn't stinkin USB. Laptop screens are horrible to play around with pictures and there's no room to open the laptop to use the keyboard and see my monitor screen. Grrrrr............

Last Saturday I drove 700 miles from Pennsylvania to Georgia, then Sunday drove 400 miles from Georgia to Florida. Today, I just got home from driving 1100 miles straight from Florida to Pennsylvania. I did not see a single "cool" car in over 2000 miles of continuous driving through 7 different states.

May I ask what the problem folks would have with allowing legal marijuana to be smoked and driving a car? If you take the thousands of people every day who are drunk behind the wheel and force them to smoke and drive instead, all the deadly car crashes would turn into mild 3 mph fenderbenders...

I think to get a driver's license, you should be FORCED to drive while under the influence of marijuana. No more road rage, no more high speed crashes. Everyone would be giving the "don't care" attitude and no one would drive over about 5 mph.

Quote from logitekg25 :id be scared to drive a car like that....its a lot of pressure, and maybe they were just learning to drive, or learning to drive that car

but i see where your coming from

Yup. I think I'll just learn how to drive all by myself in my $50,000 550 hp specialty car.....

Quote from speedway :Maybe he was also driving home, but unlike you was in no rush to get out of the car

I don't have a problem with folks who aren't in a rush to get out of the car. I have a problem when they select the main travel 55 mph road north out of town when there are 2 other perfectly fine slower roads that parallels the same road on either side. If you want to drive like an old lady, go travel the 45 or 35 mph road. If you can't drive the speed limit on a given road, then get the heck off.
