RE: driving 'defensively' ('consistently' would be a better way to put it.)

If there is a crash on a server bad enough to 'kill' a driver, all the racers in the server should immediately be removed from the circuit and have to be virtual pallbearers at a virtual funeral for the victim. The devs could code up a cemetary, coffin and a minister.

The fastest driver on the server would drive the hearse.

(Or second fastest driver, if the fastest was the one that 'died'.)

I am on patch F15.

F15 of S3 pre-alpha

Scawen and I are bestest of buddies, and I am privvy to inside versions of LFS and patches.

You guys are so behind the times.

I'd post screenshots, but they are in .jpwsuhd (Jpg Widescreen UltraHighDef) format that comes with Windows Heuristic Beta (I am also buddies with Bill Gates. You guys are so behind the times.)

Quote from phoretwenny :Oh yeah, braking points. Well I know a few maps so far but not many. And the ones I do know, I only know a few corners on each map, lol. S'all good.

I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't be learning a track or car online. If I was a server admin and saw someone that clearly didn't have a clue which way the corners went I'd kick them out right quick.

YOU are spoiling other peoples enjoyment of the game. People that, at the very least, put in a small amount of effort not to screw things up for others on the track.

Quote from Jertje :although I must say that I can't remember the last time I've missed a brake-point by an entire marker, unless switching from an open-wheeler to a roadcar and miss-judging stopping power counts ;D

Antonia Pizzonia (ex-F1 driver) did that very thing, driving a Jag...

Quote from Hankstar :Tell her you'll join a gang if she doesn't let you

That won't work. EVERYONE knows there aren't any gangs in Canada.

Tell her you'll move to the USA and join a gang if she doesn't let you.

I am 38 and if I ever start using the expression 'XX years young' I will seriously shoot myself.

Oh my. I live near-ish Mosport and have been to the track 5 times for the ALMS races. Sorry to go 'off-track' in this thread, but I don't spend all day reading here. Can anyone link me to some (confirmed?) info on this? Is this track just a rumor that started and snowballed? To have Mosport done by someone with an obvious eye to quality over quantity really REALLY excites me.

Quote from SamH :I do absolutely agree. It's quite a gross webpage. It IS possible to design a website that contains all that PAID advertising while providing a link to download a file, and have it visible, obvious, functional and easily used. I think the free hosting is good and appreciated, but accessibility falls short.

Perhaps they should hire someone to give their hosting a make-over. I've just walked a friend through her first website design. If it were professional, it would be laughed at, but for a first go it's a fine start. The free hosting site is a tenth what my friend has cranked out. They've broken every single golden rule I can think of, in site design. I'd be ashamed of it.

Those free hosting sites are specifically designed to be hard to find the download link. They WANT you to have to search all over the page (filled to the brim with ads) and in doing so it is inevitable that you will be reading some of the ads, no matter how hard you try. I know I can read a 'regular' web page and totally ignore the ads. They don't like that.

Technology has made it easier for us to ignore, dismiss, or delete advertisements from our media. Advertisers aren't just going to lay down and quit. They seem to be a sneaky, persistant lot.

Quote from BuddhaBing :
The sound engine is probably the area that needs the most work -- or rather, it's the area that people complain about the most and tends to be the first thing people new to LFS comment on. Improving the sounds may broaden the appeal to new users.

It's odd that someone so much younger than I (<-- Aug 6, 1968) and from Canada is so amazingly wise!

I would say that the sound is the number one thing that jumps out at a new user and has the largest potential to turn them off of the sim.

You should stalk them. Find out where they live. Photograph their house. Sit outside and peer into their windows and see if they really do code. Follow them to the grocery store and see if they buy lots of brain food (fish).

We, as paying customers, need to know this information. We need to know, yesterday, when a new patch is coming. Everything about our lives are on hold until we know this.

Please, won't someone stalk the devs??? Think of all of the people needing a patch! Sacrifice your time (and possibly your freedom, if caught and jailed) for us!

Wow, that is seriously a very impressive piece of work.

Thank you for this. Your time and effort in bringing all this info together into a professional looking manual is appreciated!
