I am in a team, too. I agree with Kev. This whole voice chat thing is not much for me. I rather concentrate on driving clean and fair instead of listening some crackling voices all the time. But our team is still close together, some like it more being on voice chat, some less. Firstly the 24 hour race this year where we participated with 2 teams brought us closer together and we realised what a great bunch of guys are in the team. Last week we had our first team meeting for our german based members. 6 of our total 14 members attended and it was nice to see that each one is great guy and not a single one where i would say "omg who is that?"
Its really great being in a team where there are people you do get good along with!
Maybe it helped over the time that we picked our memberws pretty wisely and had to say to a lot guys who applied that they'll probably not fit to good to our team. We have a guideline with information about us and how we see our team which everyone who applies should have read first.

We really dont want our team splitting up because of new members rushing in all the time. While being a part of the community over 2 years now, I have seen a lot teams growing up and going down. Especially here in the "teams" subforum. Member hopping where people had like 3 teams in 1 month. Or teams going down, re-estabblished after 1 week and closing down again after 2 more weeks. Often its really a fun to read. There was even a thread with a guideline how to start up a team ( i think it was by battle) which was supposed to help newcomers to form their teams.

What i really like about our team, we are really active, have a nice floating, helpul forum discussion going on with people agreeing and disagreeing, but each one respecting the opinion of the other, on our team forum, its really community like, although we are only 14 members.

An d one thing i may add:
If you join a team people will first see the your team-tag, so whenever you drive on a public server you are representing yourself AND the team, this is the same for your team mates and their attitude towards other racers will come down to you. So choose your team wisely if you dont want your name being linked with bad reputation.

Plus being in a team should always be a "give and get" so i would think twice if a team wants me just to fill the squad and add another member.
In a team there is usually a lot of exchange of the following things. Skins, Setups, driving tips...each member usually has his strength and his bad parts. One is good in organizing a team for a team event the other one is just the damn good driver who can score in those team events. A good and reputated team always needs to have a good mix. Not just super fast drivers with no skills in skinning, web designing, organizing and setup making. A good team usually needs a solid core of drivers preferable real life friends so you know the team wont split up to fast.
Drivers in a team should basically have the same interest in certain cars, for example if all other drivers of the team just drive open wheel cars but you just like driving the RAC you may feel a bit like the 5th wheel on the car.

Lucky enough i found a team which fits those needs perfect and we have a man for every part. Some maybe a little bit slower in driving but bringing forward the team on another part. There are maybe sometimes things we disagree but thats usually solved pretty quick.

If we get a fast change the biodiversit of the planet will decrease by a huge amount. We know that from earth history, fast changes always resulted in mass die of species (not only speaking of climate changes). If we had slow changes the number of species, stayed constant or just decreased by a bit.

+ if we slow down the process, that will also lead that the maximum global warming will decrease.



This graph is showing the diversity of marine species since paleozoic. There we have "the big 5" events and some minor events, where we always had rapid changes in climate and living conditions. If we had slow changes the effects werent that big.

I could be rather relaxed sitting in an industrial country which will not have the biggest effects of global warming. But i think thats selfish. because the most affected are the poor of the poorest by harvest failure, droughts and diseases. The forgotten continent Africa, South America, Asia...
Already today I would love the 10.000 hunger death a day because of the agricultural war between industrial countries would get the same publicty as those dieing by terror, but thats another topic.
But i also understand people wont change their living behaviour on their own if they dont have an incentive to change it which can only be made by governments, since money rules the world and the industry wants us to consume a lot to earn a lot of money.

Some people said in this thread or another i dont remember right, that we "chase view"drivers miss something of the intense simulation feeling´. So let us miss this "intense feeling"and this one thing about the simulation and give us the mirror to be more safe for everyone else. You said yourself we will miss sth...i can live with it. A lot people miss sth because they dont use wheel, but kb and mouse is still supported.
I dont have a prob with people using mouse or kb, since i can understand that not everyone can afford a wheel.
You should do the same and understand us chase view driver that our tiny monitor doesnt give us the surround feeling as when we are in a car. I need to know whats going on around me without pressing a buttom and my monitor will never reflect the real feeling i have in the cockpit. We just want to race proper and safe for everyone else. The only thing missing for us is the possibility to know whats going on behind us.
Why not just add this tiny mirror there? Does it hurt you in any way? It would make the racing on public server even better, so why are people agianst it? "It doesnt help me! Its not made for me! So i dont want it. No programming time should be invested there."

Evaporation is just a buffer and the amount of water that possible evporates is limited.
I know you dont believe on global warming, but there are enough measurements that already show GW is happening. I know its easier to close the eyes and dont be affected by the problems which our planet has and live on the cost of the poor, our children and following generation. Thats the easy way (After me the sense flood).

Temperature increase is just one thing caused by humans, its happening, its measured and first effects already happening, people dieing. We should start to take measures to slow it down. Here is a chart which shows effects of GW, we are already completely in the first step. Even if there would be a 1 % chance GW is not happening. I wouldnt risk the consequences.

For scientists sth like a wonderland, they see things happen they prognosed 20 years ago.

The seas level will definately rise, it already did because of GW and is measured very precisely.
Like you can see for example in the alps or himalaya not only the ice floating on the water melts + antarctica is a continent and most ice there is not floating on water. There is an ice shield several km thick which already starts thinning, first time in several hundred thousand of years.
And the sea level rising happens not only because of the amount of water added, the other factor is thermal expansion. Which is if we take the amount of water into account much bigger then most usually think. Didnt find the exact numbers right now in my notes but if you need them i will have a closer look on my desk.

Or is this Phlos guy just a damn good programmer/hacker? Why cant one just get hold off this guy? because if its easy stuff what he did and what he did in the past, like you said, that means everyone who has basic programming/hacking knowledge can come across the road and do that ?

Because not everyone is a good engineer there is the possibility to share sets on the server and there are sites like Team Inferno who offer setups.

But a "forced setup" option for special races/servers would be cool.

If you would like to do open wheel racing with the Fox in a series environment i could recommend you the Open Wheel Racing League. The season starts at 08th of september. There are always several grids for the races which are sorted by personal best time (which are grabbed from your LFS-World profile). So you race people with your skill. Race usually start at 08 pm central european time. Which is like 2 pm east coast time. There are a few drivers from the US involved there, but the main part of drivers come from europe there.

Tbh its no masterpiece of television entertainment but does that really count to compare the FIRST episode with high budget real life programs with educated commentators? It wasnt to bad to be honest. A bit to much american style for my taste but you can see that the guys making the program are as addicted of sim racing as we are and trying to be a forum for simracing and thats pretty cool and thats what counts.
You could even say a lot of bad things about Mika's live coverages at www.game-tv.com but yeah in some way they are pretty cool and he is near the community, self a part, even if he tries to speak in english its not perfect but he still gets a lot of sympathism from my side. Becky's STCC broadcasts are really top notch but the format is a lot of different then that offered by SRT and i think a multi-topic, multi sim program is pretty hard to do (not putting down your work petty, your coverages were always just awesome and there is as well a hell lot of work in it) and they show their faces and not just lending their voice.
So keep on guys, maybe take something of the criticism mentioned here and go on with the style you think fits the best for you, the perfect cleanest program doesnt fit for all moderators! Would be looking forward to see something about LFS!

I think there is no scientist working on global warming ever doubt that the temperature in earth history was hotter then today or there was more CO2 in the atmosphere. It certainly was.

Speaking about Global Warming we have to ask ourselves where exactly lays the problem?

The degree of temperature change we experience at the moment is NOT natural (speaking we have no extraordinary events for example, big volcano eruptions, meteroitic impact...) and can hardly be found in earth history without those extraordinary events.

Whats the problem and the result if we get higher temperature?

Just some of a long list of examples:
Rise of the ocean
less glacier
higher temperature
more extreme weather phenomens
desertification

In countries which are affected by those things you will probably have high migration (in humans history always led to wars, cultural, racist conflicts) or the agricultural sector will have big problems and more and more people will not have something to eat at the end of the day.
Finally those effects that will cost us more if we dont do anything to slow down the degree of global warming.

Not speaking about the effect on all the plants and animals. Dieseases, political problems, detailed economic problems. Water problems....

For detailed analyses my writing knowledge of english language is not good enough.

But the main thing is not of we have global warming (everyone can see it at the glaciers in the alps) or not. The question is what will be the effects if we get a high temperature change over a short period. People should just start learning out of humans history.

I just did read a thread about someone wanting a S1 or S2 licence. That just remembered me that i have a second S2 Licence. It maybe didnt have the best name and was banned from 1 or 2 servers 2 Years ago, i started in July05 with it. The reason why i have been banned was that i started playing serious racing games for the first time and have been so annoyed that it was so difficult and i have to admit i crashed alot . Long time has passed now, a lot of miles on my side since i touched that old licence and i dont think its in 1 single ban list. So i think it shouldnt just lay there useless for me (i dont know a single moment where i could use it) i think we should all be happy if we have one more S2 licenced active racer. But i dont want to give the licence to someone who just got into this forum wants to play NOW and never touches the game after one week.
It maybe sounds a bit godlike but i have some criterias whom i'll give the licence. See it as a competition or whatever. Please apply either here or by pm if you want the licence.

Criterias:
- Forum registration before 01.06.2007 (the earlier the better)
- give reason why you cant buy the licence yourself, you dont need to go much into details (for example: you live in a country where its hard to buy it/you dont have the money/ you are just a student and your parents would never allow you to buy something over the internet/...)
- post some replays which show that you are clean driver (Put a red dot behind your name)/ Replays: 1. You driving alone some laps/ 2. You driving on a filled demo server 3 different mpr replays!!! (you dont have to be an alien fast just capable to hold the car on track and race fair with others, you dont need to win the race on the replay from the filled server or so, thats not giving you any plus point)
- time after application time has ended for a meeting on a demo server where i can see that it was really you in the replays

Not needed but a plus point:
(-helpful, active part of the community)

Application time:
starting from the post time exactly 7 days. No first come first serve basis.
If there isnt anyone who fullfills the criterias i'll think about what i will do with the licence.

Its the best game i have ever bought and it gets better and better.
In some way its more simple then most of the games, on the other hand it goes more in the depth (physics) then all other racing games.
Not bored after 2 years of playing. And Ctra-X gave me more new motivation

As i said, i dont think the mirror will ever happen due to the mentioned reason that new players should be encouraged to drive in the cockpit and i can understand that. I have arranged myself to drive without mirror, its ok, even though i sometimes lose a place, because i dont know 100% where the car behind me attacks, for safety reasons i let the door more open then needed.

I personally think you can better see the visual feedback in chase view, but thats just a question of taste i think.

My main problem lays in the narrow city courses, hairpins, sharp corners, because i am actually not on the height of the car and need to plan earlier where i want my car to go.

As long as i dont have the same side and front overview like in cockpit like in real car (and thats not possible with one small monitor.), i will not try to switch from chase view.
