Quote from Dajmin :Would love to, but it would really depend on when the races were. And you know that with me taking part, nobody else would come last

I defo +1 this Although I can't really do weekends at the moment which might make it a bit tricky.

Quote from Becky Rose :For a start, highlighting that I don't have a degree and am in my thirties isn't offensive - particularly in the software industry which cares only about your last project.

Exactly, just to add that I'm 21, have no degree, dropped out of uni to continue my passion of web development (of which I now have 2 years full time experience) and have recently applied for about 5 jobs, gotten 3 interviews and 1 definite offer already (which I turned down) - which in this 'economical climate' isn't too bad I guess. Not once was I asked why I don't have a degree.

As it happens I actually joined linkedin the other day, but haven't got around to setting a profile up yet. At the moment I am lucky enough to have the liberty to be very specific about the work I choose to do, so I'm not sure it'd benefit me right now.

Today my 2 year old BFG 8800 GTS OC started artifacting, causes system crashes etc, so basically it needs RMAing. Apparently the BFG RMA service is pretty damn good, but seeing as the card is so old, any ideas what I'll get in return?

Quote from Syfoon :What this man said.

RS is utterly craptacular in terms of choice and speed when compared to a decent torrent site. I'm not talking about the kind any peon can just stumble into either, I mean the kind you get asked to join

..RS servers are plenty fast enough. Simultaneous downloads will easily max out any UK connection.

The problem is non-instant releases (who cares?) and links being removed, not that hard to find alternatives though, and much better than slogging away with file sharing.

Had Be while I was living in Southampton, around 16Mb, something like a 300GB fair usage, 10GB/day is quite a lot to be downloading though.

Quote from Jakg :I paid a taxi driver £5.60 to take me from the station to work. I would then had to have paid a few quid train fare in the first place and then would have had to find some way of getting from my house to the station (7 miles).

Driving there costs £2 in petrol.

Yah but, you do have to factor in other expenses such as insurance and tax etc. However, it's true, owning a car is by far the cheapest form of motorised transport in the UK, and more comfortable than public transport, and means you don't have to mingle with the masses :P

Yeah did this on my iPhone a few months ago as Dad wanted a cheap GPS tracking system that could be used to send positional data over 3G or slower connections. Good luck with battery life having the GPS running all the time though.

Quote from ThrottleBody :i have a GF, but PC games do take a strain on our relationship, specially when she kept txt'ing me and ringing me, and i picked the phone up and said 'FFS im trying to play my f'ing game!'

Yeah dude that's not a good shout, phone calls from the GF ALWAYS take priority over games, or pretty much anything I'm doing for that matter But then that's because she's away working for 10 weeks and we only get to see each other every other weekend, so phone calls are a necessity - thank god for my 1200 minutes every month, the iPhone contract paid off

Quote from dawesdust_12 :I use my Logitech G15 (With working LCD at that ) and a Logitech MX518. I do however like the fullsized wired Apple keyboards (the sans-numpad ones are annoying, but they do sell fullsized wired).

Funnily enough, I went from using a G15 to using a fullsized wired aluminium keyboard. Still use my MX518 though

Quote from C22_H20_O13 :Viewing angle measurements are meant for that
Btw I don't mind about view angle because I'm always facing the monitor

However, say you are sitting 50cm away from a 24" monitor, with minimal trig you can see your up/down viewing angle is ~20 degrees each way. Far from perfect, and would cause problems with a TN.

Quote from Jakg :EDIT - And WTF were Apple thinking when they made those shitty keyboards?!

I have the full size wired version of that keyboard. Its lush.

Yeah cos it's pretty easy to run a site that serves a couple of hundred million people (not a billion). Serving up 400,000 images per second is basically the same as ABC.
