PRECISELY, how do I "forward ports 63392 TCP/UDP and 29339 TCP".
As we can't use the host name and password, anyone else who can use it is quite welcome actually!
I've never heard of Free-Fall Hardware Acceleration. It sounds like something to do with wrestling...?
Please forgive my ignorance but I don't know how to tell my router anything. Life was simpler with an ordinary modem, I'm thinking.
Much obliged for your efforts to resolve this one.
I'm in the south of England, the other racer is in France. We decided on a host name "sausageroll" and used the password of "**********".
We had no problems at all when we were on XP but when we both upgraded our machines, earlier this year and began to use Patch Z and use Vista, the only time we can now race together is on the public tracks.
I've tried using a different host name and password but it won't let the other racer join me. It's always some failure message.
He's tried being the host but still no good.

Thanks.
The only mention of "port" is 63392.
I've always understood that to be common to everyone.
My router is a BT Voyager 220V ADSL Voice Router
Can you advise where precisely that number or an alternative should be entered to make a difference to the port forwarding?
(Someone recently told me that port forwarding was another description for firewall.)
I have tried disabling that and then trying to make contact with my other racer but no joy.
Earlier this year after successfully linking up with modems and a host name and a password on our Windows XP machines and able to race head to head, we both got new machines and went to VISTA and got connected to the Internet via routers.
End of successful head to head racing.
Also, if you remember, the latest Z version came out.
Is there anyone within the LFS techno-community who ever tries to go head to head with Routers and on VISTA who can advise on what procedures are required.
We get "Timed out" and "Cannot be found on Master Server" or something similar.
The irritating thing is we can meet on the public tracks.
No problem.
But head to head with visa via routers is beyond us.
Please can someone help.
After apparently downloading the Z patch I read the UNlOck bottom right hand corner instruction but the next page only reads, "The program was unable to connect to the master server..
1.You may be protected by a firewall it may have blocked the connection.
2. It may be temporarily impossible to connect to the master from the isp.
3. The master server may not be running due to a technical problem.
Check status of master server.
Is there anything I can do to rectify this. I have come up with this over a dozen times now and have not been able to run LFS with the Z patch version so far..
Would it help if, when I get to the page "STart new host" and where normally it says IP ADDRESS - Auto - that I should change it to the IP address of the lad I normally race head to head with??
Or should I insert my own IP Address?
Hi again, Bob. I have identified that my number one machine has the IP address as 192.168.1.2 and now I find that my number two machine is also 192.168.1.2. As I speak they are both linked to the internet via the same BT VOYAGER 220V router.
Would you be so kind as to tell me what I have to do next?
Regards
Blimey, Bob, I realize that there are two types of people on this planet - those who understand the ins and outs of routers and those who don't!
Do I have to buy this PFConfig?
It has foxed me utterly.
Is there somewhere where someone has listed it out in Tab fashion.
Its as clear as mud at the moment...
I only mean that I can't use the computers "for LFS purposes when I want to connect up to a single other racer online". As soon as he hits the site name and password he can't "meet me" and should he be the host, "I can't join him."
That is with the router.
When I unhook the router and relink up with the modem we can meet and he duly hands out a walloping.
So I'm after getting the router to work with "ideally both machines" and if you're clever enough, Angry angel, and I suspect you are, give me way to tie his shoelaces together so I can win occasionally.....!! Mmmmm...
There is something I'm not doing when I'm connected up to the router and I don't know what it can be.
I'm not sure I know what you mean by ports.
Via the router on a machine which runs Vista and is a 2 Duo E6850 2gb Ram, Geforce 9800 GX2. I have access to the internet OK, can open up and run Multiplayer and bring in AI opponents but when Daveebee tries to hit the mutually agreed site name and password, that is as far as he can get. I can get onto the public sites as well.
Are there any different settings anywhere with the opening pages of the LFS program which are different when I employ a router as opposed to a modem.
Where do I access these ports please?
What needs to be done to them to "open" them or change them?
Any help would be great. Cheers.
I have a router and have two PCs linked to it. I have LFS downloaded on both but, only use one at a time. (Cos I've only got one pair of hands!)
When I had a modem, LFS worked fine but now, the Router doesn't cooperate with me and I can't use either machine. I have to unhook them from the router and plug in my Modem to my older machine.
Is there some setting which I may have overlooked which will enable the router, (supposedly a more clever gizmo) to happily allow my LFS activities.
Someone did offer a rather complicated solution some month or so ago but I was completely bemused by it. A simple explanation of what I might be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Having just invested (??) in a new machine and using Vista I find that I can't start a new track just for a friend and me to race head to head. A window comes up proclaiming I'm not connected to Main Server although we're using the same host name and password for the past two years. Anyone have any clues about what I need to change please?
thanks to you both. I have been able to rectify the difficulty by re-installing and now we are happily re-connected and using the same "host name" and password. Maybe the problem was caused by sunspots and/or the curvature of the earth not being in alignment with the latitude and longitude as issued by our glorious eu masters (spit).....
Sorry but the terms, "LFS dedi", "LFS full client" and "port forwarding" are meaningless to me. Unless you mean that full client means someone who has paid for the full S2 licence.
One of us went to "Start New Host" via MULTIPLAYER and chose a name and a password. We have been using those happily for a couple of years but now, after a month's absence, they won't open when we go to "join specific host".
(We just race head to head over various tracks but now we have to join the public tracks to take part in the same race.)
I've tried setting up a new host via "Start New Host" but it will only allow me three cars and not the FOX.
I would be most grateful for any guidance on this issue. Thanks.
I have been away from LFS for a month due to illness and now when I'm back and I want to open up the Host to race - head to head - with a friend it refuses to open up for me and says "Host not found on Main Server" even though both of us are bona fide members and have used the host name and password stacks of times. Is there some time limit which shuts a host name down if it isn't used for a few weeks?
All we can do is go onto the public tracks. Is it a question of making up a new one?? Be grateful for any guidance on this issue. Thanks.
The crazy thing is, I was in the middle of a session, racing head to head with someone and then at the end of the race it went to a grey screen and when I tried to set up a new track I got the error message. I hadn't done anything to cause it unless trawling through some of my replayed races could be called causing it. That is all I remember doing.
Have I inadvertently hit a button to cause this to appear? I promise you I haven't interfered with any setting to deliberate cause it.
One minute we're racing then the next race and I get a grey screen.
Most odd.
I can't seem to get further than the grey screen although I can run replays and see the initial screen but not get onto the track for a race.
Any help please?
samj, I have been on LFS since 2005 and always have used the default setting and have used the FOX more frequently than any other car.
MY pB on South City Long is 1.41.75 so if you can record two seconds better, bully for you. I also drive on Automatic and more often than not, use the chase view.
Did I say Wolf? I meant Rolf, the shortsighted pianist.
Oh, by the way, Clicking with the left, double clicking or right clicking does not bring up LFS REmote. Je suis perplexed. What's next, please?
I am happy to say Niall09, that I resemble more like one of the muppets up in the gods than like Animal or Wolf but hey, my faculties are good enough working order to remember the Muppets in all their glory so it can't be all bad, can it?!!
hi Bob
I am truly in awe of your seven thousand five hundred and thirty six contributions to LFS Forums. Surely, there must be the equivalent of a Nobel prize for services to LFS ignoramuses like wot I am. Cheers.
