I actually agree, money and motiation are two different things, I think LFS would be spoilt if invaded by steam users. I think lfs has more important things to do, getting on steam to me would be as bad as selling out to a large game company. The independance of LFS is part of what makes it so good.

-1 Too, this is a racing sim is it not? What your looking for is IRC (Internet relay chat), and there are thousands of those provided all over the internet. As far as I am aware, there is an IRC channel on one of the major networks, dedicated to LFS users and its quite busy. in the words of the king: 'A little less conversation and a little more action please'

DUHAST, sadly if you ask for help on this forum, people will look for a reason to flame you. Anyway, I always understood 'brake boosting' as reducing the required pressure needed on the brake pedal by using a vaccume source from the engine on one side of the diaphram.

But it would seem from the posts, your asking about the turbo? and about it being ready for your exit of the corner? If you want to keep the turbo spinning up.... left foot braking!

Anyway, to the point, this is JUST a simulation and is far from the real thing, keep that in mind when considering your expectations!

LFS requirements:
256 MB

So thats one damn good reason not to have steam, before you get on a server you require twice as much ram, without actually playing a game, I think that would be a poor show from LFS. If its not broken, don't try to fix it.

Yeah, I was about to say the same. When you enter some's host, its like there home, they can do as they please! If I had paid for a host, I wouldn't want people dictating how I use it.

I am assuming you are connecting a 'LFS_External' c# application? It will depend on which application you have downloaded as to where you need to change it. If you are not savvy with setting up an InSim application, I would like to know how you intend on coding it?

Try looking for a setting.cfg or simmilar within the applications folders, if you are lucky you can change the settings there, however, with most applications, the settings are 'hard coded', which means you will need the source, a compiler (visual basic or similar), and at least some knowlege of programming.

It's a no for me, I tried steam some time ago and its simply not for me! I also agree with earlier comments 'its not our choice to make' and looking at the poll (as of today) no seems to be a popular choice.

Good point, had not considered that, just gentle gear changing then! Lifting off the accelorator a little when you shift will help.

I won't kill you, I am one of many who agree's, and I won't lie about it. Its the choice between loads of money for iRacing or saving a few bucks with LFS, overall its great, but yeah, the net code does suck sadly.

I agree again, probably clutch. It can actually cool by its self if you stop driving or drive gently. Ignition off and out of gear seems fastest way, but I could be imagining that, it seems to take 3/4 minutes. Better still is to avoid getting the clutch hot by shifting with more care and avoiding accidents.

In single player and some multi player hosts, you can reset your car with the space bar, but not all multi player hosts allow this. You can use shift P(pit) or shift S (spectate) followed by shift J(join) in single player and most multi player hosts, however, some multi player hosts may apply a fine or penalty for this, check with the host at the time.

Bad luck of location! Sadly 'down under' it seems everyone is suffering low ping times, your not alone there. I understood it that most of the Aussie telephone exchanges are recieving upgrades over the next few years, I can't say how true that is, maybe things will improve! You will never have 100% success in avoiding wreckers, there is no end to those p*****. If you can attend servers during the day (european time) you will probably find more moderation on servers. An idea to help with the low ping may be finding a cheap aussie VPS or simmilar to open a more local dedi host.

Here is a company I used to use, I believe they(there servers) are located in Aus.

I don't remember this attendence, however it could of been possible. I am sure I wouldn't of been the only one(i dont connect to empty servers often), I don't see a list of people named and shamed for being there. I know this could be 'digging up an old post' but its the first time I have seen this thread, and only just seen my name nearly being dragged through the mud. Umm what ever it was, I wasn't involved, I can tell that without reading too much, but I don't use your server and never have. However, this thread my explain why I had to contact Scawen to get my FIXED ip removed from a block list on the master server. Please, don't drag my name through the mud, even if I have banned you or even been rude to you for some reason, its just not nice.

I have had issues before, which leads me onto three questions.

1) Did it ever work? or is this the first time you have tried it?
2) Have you tried a new install of Live for Speed?
3) Are you using any texture packs?

I once had a faulty shadow in a texture pack, a simple re-install of those specific files fixed the issue.

I feel like I have had my money's worth out of LFS, never before have I played a simulator or game for so many hours. As disapointing as it is that the VWS and Rockingham have not come to us, I don't think we should complain too loudly, afterall, were still getting great value for money. I paid for lfs with a number of tracks and cars, that was the understanding when I paid for it and I have had everything I expected. To be frank about it, its obvious that during the later stages of wrighting lfs, there is going to be a lot of refining and tweaking to the orignal content. I also respect that if the VWS is going to be released with new tyre physics, the other cars are going to have to match to some extent. What I don't understand is why people complain about extra features that were not included at the time of purchase, you get given more and your still not happy about it, your infact rude. I am going to close by saying...

Ah, it is possible to set your binds with a script, its also possible to change your driver name!

As you wish to load tow, cop and other binds, you could have a script called tow.lfs that changes your binds when you type //tow.
