I'm quite sure that most developers think that way, but in this case it is a TEST patch, and that's what TEST versions are for, debugging, so I think that your analogy is not right for the situation.
Throttle blip in downshift gives you some revs when downshifting so if you do it fast enough you can keep your revs high enough to move the car.
There is another way to move your car without using the throttle pedal, you switch to manual gear shifting (not semi automatic) and hit the start engine key very fast (or hold it down), in real life you can move your car by doing something like that but your battery would die within seconds, this doesn't work on all LFS cars, in XFG it works.
I would like to see an option to change the way you input messages in LFS, sometimes I want to write while racing in a straight line and the text window is a little bit annoying, maybe there could be a option to deactivate the window and input text only, something like Quake 3, or maybe an option to move the window.
In LFS I use LFB but IRL I use RFB, I never tried to LFB in a real car, I don't see the point in it as you don't get any real advantages of it when you aren't racing.
OMG everyone uses such a low FOV, I used to have 105 of FOV but now I switched to 95 and I see everything so damn slow, when running below 100Km/h everything seems to be suspended but in the other cand I can have more clean lines and see better where i'm going.
BTW, I don't use mirrors, that's one of the reasons why I used that FOV, my computer doesn't allow me to use mirrors and have decent FPS
