Not sure this has been suggested, if it has been... Sorry to waste your time.
One of the things LFS is missing (I believe) the most is brake fading.
Just imagine SO races and after a few hard braking, brakes overheat and start to fade! Or, in 24h race brakes wear and tear and after a 2 hours race you wear them to nothing and you can barely stop.
Also, what would be nice if we could choose brake types between lets say hard, medium and soft. Hard last longer but brake less and soft last short and break hard.
IMHO, LFS does not need cars with huge engines. It needs cars that are light and have great suspension, like:
- Ariel Atom
- Lotus Exige
- Mazda Miata
- Mazda RX8
and so on...
Only one car with huge engine should be in LFS: Holden!
As stated in title, I'm in desperate need for SWAIN drift layout. Original one, not modifications. I just love that layout, it's such a great drift layout that it "hurts" It has everything that a drift layout should have, fast long corners, tight ones, 90 degree... And it is almost perfectly combined so some very attractive drift can be done, fast drift AND show drift! That cannot be easily done!
Like the title says, how to read LFSWorld pubstat data using ASP?
Currently I have some code and I am able to read data but there must be some more advanced or optimized way to read data. I'm using ASPTear to retrieve data, save it to .txt file and than parsing out data to database.
Problem? ASPTear sometimes breaks and data is gathered wrong and I have no idea how to cache data properly.
If anyone is interested I can put my code here.
Not sure it has been posted, but today received an error while viewing spr replay.
Replay just halted saying "Replay OOS error" blinking in the middle of the screen. Happens all the time but noticed in this particular replay.
Replay is AS2 XFR WR (dime_miki http://www.lfsworld.net/get_spr.php?file=5173 ). Replay is recorded in U patch, viewed in W41 test patch.
Sry if posted before.
EDIT: in W patch all normal, works fine. Viewing in W patch I noticed that at the moment where W41 says "replay OOS error" guy has reseted the car.
Today I first tried W24 test patch and was stunned by the new car balancing.
I have small amount of experience, but... Maybe there is just a bit too much weight on FXO.
Let me put it this way:
Pre W17: FXO: 209HP/ton, RB4: 201HP/ton, XRT: 206HP/ton
With W24: FXO: 193HP/ton, RB4: 201HP/ton, XRT: 198HP/ton
And this does not include 3% air intake restriction on FXO!
RB4 is now the strongest car to drive!
I agree it is the easiest to drive and should be penalized for that, but this much? RB4 isn't that much heavier to drive, and now it has the best HP/ton ratio.
And also adding weight isn't the right way for balancing. With extra weight car uses more fuel, wears more tires, driver has to break earlier, acceleration is slower and overall handling is ruined. Putting thiner tires would do pretty much the same except fuel usage.
My thoughts: all cars should have pretty much the same HP/ton ration. Maybe 2HP difference but should be limited by another way than adding weight. XRT should be the strongest and with that adding that small advantage because it is the hardest to drive. RB4 should be in the middle and FXO should have smallest HP/ton ration because it is the easiest to drive. How to do that and not to use extra weight? Don't know. You say how...
I'm running 3 LFS servers, SQLServer 2005 Express and a web site on P4 1.7 with 512Mb RAM with two NIC's, one for LFS servers and other for web site. LFS servers work like a charm, but SQL is memory hungry and sometimes it can eat up almost everything but LFS server continue to work like nothing is happening.
Don't know what to say. Too many things to say. Big loss for LFS community for both racing and developers.
It's a shame that people who can't control their anger make the things they make, and it's a bigger shame that people around him support him! But, I don't want to start that all over again.
Becky, your work has been at least amazing. What the STCC servers did, no other server ever did for LFS and now they are gone. I understand that you are having RL problems and that you are sick of it all but I cannot stress enough how that servers were important to me. My online time will be cut to one third of the time I spent racing when STCC was here.
Bad day for LFS racing, bad day.........
32 cars?! OMG!!!! Unbeliveable!
8 TCP conn's? WOW. This is the best thing that could happen! And qual starts from garage! Unbeliveable!
This is such a great news I'm going to get drunk and then try out W17!
Wow! That is enough to run all that?! Just one box? I imagined at least two boxes, one for web and one for database. Your code must be very very optimized
Thank you for software info, but you haven't mentioned hardware...
BTW, why linux and not Win2003? I have been administering hardware and software for over 12 years and always on Win. Only one thing I have respect for when talking about linux is routing. There are couple of great linux dists for routing, much better then win2003 routing. But when talking about web server and SQL server, IMHO MS beats linux every single time, especially now when MSSQL2005 has free version. Little OT, I'm sorry.
Problem solved.
Funny thing this LFS... It refuses to work when port is lower then default port (63392). My config's were both lower than default port and neither were visible in the game. You could connect to demo host but not S2.
Using ports higher then default solved my problem. Why? Don't know.
Good work?!
You can't be serious tih is good work.
You don't know what /pps and /dedicated commands are!
And let's not forget, you haven't mentioned at all fot ingame commands for host admin.
Maybe OT, but it has to do with programming (web site for LFS)
Is there anyone who has or knows where to find car & track pictures from LFSWorld (those little pictures in S2 Hotlapps in Hotlap Charts).
Also, I need logo and other stuff related to LFS.
Very nice! Finally, I was starting to vory are you ever going to get to that... Few baseball caps and wool caps would be nice.
But the best of all would be racaing shoes and gloves with LFS logo!!! Sweet!!!
Both servers are private, sharing pass here wouldn't make much sens illepall
Try to connect to either of those without password and the same thing will happen even if you have pass. Tryed, believe me.
BTW, IRL I'm system admin and programmer with more than 12 years of experience (currently developing InSim app and LFS team and league manager) so I know thing or two
