Quote from PoVo :Here's the problem:

Your car looks like this.

Cars like that now make me cringe. YYUUUKKK.

I see what people are coming from when you overtake a young driver. Yes, I'm 18 myself, but when going home on breaks at college, I overtake what I can just call a chav, they'll try to catch me. Or when you go to overtake someone they try to block you thinking their 1.2 Corsa is fast y0! lol

Quote from Bean0 :Points for normal offences remain on your licence for 4 years (11 for death by dangerous driving etc), insurance companies will ask you about any offenses within the last 5 years, and also if you have ever been banned before.

I imagine you will be paying high premiums for quite some time due to the ban.

£2500 a yr on a GTI Valver at 18. So yeah, pretty high :/

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Can't say i'm too suprised...

Doesn't suprise me you came back with something like that. Still nice to know some prick'ish people are about. Even though you know jack shit about the crash.

Quote from pb32000 :Really? By that do you mean if you drive into a ditch you'll get a ban, and is this a new rule? Seems a bit stupid to me :/

2 year probation period is a stupid law. Tot up 6 points in 2 years, license revoked. Crashes etc. It's stupid.

As I've now been banned, I'm off of it apparently and can now have 12 points. But for some reason my 3 points didn't come off of my license which is stupid. Usually do

Quote from Bawbag :If your in any accident on your own within the first 2 years and police find out you get a ban, though simple 28 day ban is a good result.

Though, knowing "loads" of people who have been banned is just lol worthy, that's like a guy being jailed for murder and shrugging it off because he knows plenty of murderers.

My car hasn't changed much.

Is a good result seeing as the courts wanted to give me 9 points and revoke my license as I chose to take it to court. And got off with a 28 day ban and £50 fine. So better than doing my test again hence why I ain't bothered in the slightest about the ban :/

Quote from Migz :I don't think you would have got a ban if it was a small crash.
I didn't get a ban even though i had a big crash, which was completely my fault, yet no ban though. So it must have been a bit more then just a small crash?

Well it happened. I got a 28 day ban for it as was on 2 year probation period.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Isn't that why you got taken to court for dangerous driving?

You can get taken to court for the smallest of crashes, and I mean small and get that offence put on you. But sort of, I had careless driving. Hence why I got a small ban.

But nevermind. I know loads of people who've been banned.

Never really got pics of the 6n finished. I have one with the front end plowed in. Due to bad road conditions <-- Police words not mine!

PS - Sam, what happened to all the crazy show car / mega ice / slam it ideas to the van?

Got rid of the van ages ago. Had 2 polo's since. One euro'd one standard. This is going J-Euro with a 20vt.

Quote from BlueFlame :Won't be suprised if you don't get much, Mk3 Golf is the most disliked Golf ever made, even by VAGFAG standards.

They're becoming more liked now! I got offered a MR2 GT for my old 6N 1.6 Polo. Yeah was lowered and slightly smoothed in places and handled like a go kart. But the Golf MK3 is now becoming more liked so never know what I get offered for it. I know how more popular it's becoming with 'VAGfags' as I am sort of one. On my 3rd VAG in about 8 months lol.

This will get interest when I get a 20vt lump in her. But do want a RWD car to build into a drift slag for drift days lol

You ain't the only one. I've got my car on a site called Swapz just to see what RWD interest I get.

Might aswell post up the Golf GTI Valver I bought as a project.

Now time to get flamed. FK Street coilovers are on their way as Paypal has sorted their act out now and released the money.

Plans are:
Fit coilovers
Get it resprayed at some point just to tidy it up
Engine conversion is on the cards also to a 20vt
Either some jap wheels or Merc Monoblocks.
Not really a plan but get another dummy light as one is currently missing.

Thinking of doing the 20vt after being out in my mates 20vt mk3 and its a rocket! Stupidly quick.

Although I am planning on putting it on swapz for a laugh see what I get offered as still want a 323 E36 as one I was gonna get was sold.

Just messing around to see if worth investing in another air filter. This test was just for noise though. Sounds alright with air box gone...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tTO_xN6x5c

Replacement for airbox will most likely be a BMC CDA though.

Before any clever ****er says shouldn't rag a cold car. That wasn't cold, I was doing something on it earlier and forgot to plug the temp gauge back up.

Anyone else notice the plan in one shot flying through trees? :S Showing that in a trailer isn't good. But obviously that isnt the final version of the game they're showing in the trailer.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :You can resit them along side your normal course as, from memory, you're expecting to do additional studies in colleges now that are not related to your chosen area. So redoing your English and Maths (the important ones) will really help things otherwise you'll have to redo them together after college anyway.

Though I will tell you it is hard work as you have to do 2 years worth of work in 1. So there is no room to muck around or you'll never get the course work done.

My English grade will stay the same anyway. As now you have to do poetry in English and I cant do poetry to save my life. Thats what brought my grade down.

Quote from spookthehamster :Good move in emailing Brunel. I don't know if it's still the case, but the Motorsport course was the only one in the country accredited by the iMechE when I started. The year long Foundation course they offer would be good to get a basis before you start. I know a few students who took it before the main 5-year course.

The course shares almost every lecture with the standard Mechanical Engineering course. It only really differs in the last two years, where the Mech Eng students take a module on renewable energy, while the Motorsport students take Race Vehicle Design.

It's a very academic course to begin with, which is exactly what you need to get anywhere. Hands on skills can be learnt in a day on the job, but years of learning in principles of physics and engineering can't.

I worked with some students from Motorsport courses at other universities, and found that they were generally pretty limited in their knowledge. They seemed to seriously underestimate the knowledge required to get by in the field.

edit: Me and Tristain aren't trying to bring you down. We're trying to point out the difference between courses for an engineer and those for a mechanic/technician.

Yeah I see where you're coming from now. I've been in a terrible mood for the last few days so thats why I'm probably only just seeing where you're coming from now lol.

What I'm finding hard to work out though or if it's possible. Obviously now my GCSE have been done and are shite and don't want to spend a year making them better when I can go college and do a course that will get me qualifications in something that I want to do (Motorsport Engineering). So cutting all the other blah, blah, blah out. Would I be able to get into the foundation course then to the full one with just getting a ND in Motorsport Engineering and then moving to Brunel?

I seen Brunel is expensive as fook though. Swansea has a BEng course in motorsport engineering though... I doubt it'll be as good as Brunel but should still be damn good?

Quote from tom0507 :Been there, done that.

Good luck with your course, I finished there in June '08 having just done the Nat Diploma. You'll have to work hard in the First Diploma group because most of them **** around and will try to drag you down. Twenty odd would start the year but by the end only a handful were left. The Nat Dip won't teach you anything about motorsport, only about the basics of a car. Get yourself out and about working for teams gaining experience while you are there, you'll learn more out working on racedays then you will in the classroom. Can't say anything about the FD because I didn't do it, but from a few people I know are still doing it it's pretty tough, especially the maths aspect of the course.

It's good to aim as high as possible, but mechanics are always needed at lower levels. I'm happy working where I am, off to Zolder on wednesday, went to Spa last year it's all good fun.

On the topic of cars, I go for economical diesels. Not very sporty, but you do clock up the miles driving from circuit to circuit.

Sweet, someone who has done the course.

They wont drag me down with them... They can try but will just warn them off. I'm not messing about no more and just going to knuckle down and work hard for the career I want!

I'm thinking about doing the National Diploma after the FD and then going to Swansea Metro Uni to do BEng In Motorsport Engineering. If I cant go there after ND I'll do Foundation Degree and then move there. As I would rather have a Engineering Degree (BEng) than a BSc. As what people have said on here, you'll get further and better to go to an actual University. See people, I do listen lol.

Ok then. I've emailed Brunel Uni about how I could get into their Motorsport Engineering course by using the path I'm planning on taking.

But, I've also been interested in Swansea Metropolitan University Course in it also - http://www.smu.ac.uk/index.php ... rt-engineering-a-designSo I'll also email them and ask if they'll take me on after doing a Foundation Degree at Wiltshire.

I never know, all this research I'm currently doing might help me get a BEng in Motorsport Engineering without staying at Wiltshire College all the time

Quote from G!NhO :What do you mean making it into a capable car? Just leave the damn thing as it is, putting leather interior in it, bbs wheels or other proper stuff is ok but no ricing.

I'm not on about 'ricing' it. I want a track day car that is also road legal.

E30+Mtech2 kit+BBS Splits=Pure win for looking nice. But they say function of form. Like my mate became brave with his M3 Evo, had the M3 GT Splitter and Spoiler on it, no copies and then decided to spray it satin black :O

Let it get worse. **** IT! Lets make it a lot worse.

Hmm, keyboard warrior? A lot of people said that on the car club I'm part of because in person I'm layed back. But one learnt I wasn't! Haha. So I'm no keyboard warrior. No, that isn't in no way a threat to you lot. Just a general statement.

Reputation... What reputation? Go more in depth, might aswell whilst I'm sat here laughing at everyone's posts.

My english is shite? Ok then. Should one talk in a proper manner and to stick ones little finger out whilst drinking a drink. I must educate ones self at getting better at English when I am English.

Quote from G!NhO :Bmw e30 320i

I would get a BMW E30 318i. But one in the UK that has no rust is about £1700+

Also, making one into a capable car will probably destroy its value on a car like that. Although it is tempting as I like the E30s a lot. One of the nicest 3 series made tbh.

Uneducated? Pahahahahaha... You just sound to me that you think anyone with under a C is thick. Which isn't true. You could have been good in school but crap when it comes to exams. People like you incredibly piss me off in that respect.

How is my Mum going to proof read my coursework when she'll be 150miles away? I'm a Plymouth lad moving to Wiltshire by myself to do the course. So yeah, she really is going to help isn't she.

LFS Forum - The worlds population of stuck up twats with a small minority of normal day to day people.

That should be the new slogan. Keyboard warriors.

I'm in no way thick. This is great, I'm sat here laughing at everyones comments like you are making. You'll know I'm not thick if you was to meet me, but why the hell would I want to meet anyone off of here.

Quote from AudiBG :You said that 2L 16V 1992/3/4 Astra GSi is expensive to insure, then you said that E30 320 can be insured on a good price.

Why the prices between these 2 cars with almost identical spacifiactions are different?

No I double checked it, on own policy 318i, is the top one I can insure. 320 is only cheap on parents policy which I'm no longer having. To have a decent 3 Series has to be a 2.5.... The 2.3 is pointless as it's just a restricted 2.5 engine, change the manifold over and basically makes them the same engine.

What something with a good resell value, yes E30s over here are worth a lot of money in good condition and are future classics - Try telling that to people on E30Zone though haha.

Quote from ajp71 :There's still more than enough power for you to kill yourself there.

You only just passed GCSE maths though so assuming you actually tried to answer the paper you are far bellow the average successful engineer in terms of natural ability and understanding of maths for your age. If you want to have any hope of becoming an engineer you will have to be able to hack maths at a level far beyond A-level, which itself is a huge step up from GCSE.

I was allowed to do A Level maths but my other GCSE prevented me from doing so. I didn't even struggle through the exam for GCSE although I should have actually got a B. But thats what you get to just going in there and just doing it and not trying lol. Never doing that again.

Quote from sam93 :Only BMW I can get insured on for reasonable price is E30 316/318i/320
And I dont trust myself in one yet as I'll just be tempted to kick the ass end out now and again. But they're bloody good cars though.

Oops... No, I could get insurance on a 320 on parents policy. Only can get insurance on a 316/318i which are gutless 4 pots. 318is is through the roof to insure, but they handle brilliantly, my mate hand one at one point and said it handled better than his M3 Evo.

Quote from DaveWS :If you can't do maths, you will not succeed in an Engineering degree. It's tough, I'm struggling myself! I suggest you change your direction and aim to become a mechanic.

my 2 cents.

I can do Maths? I actually enjoy doing Maths lol.
