Cyprus and Turkey are traditionally considered Asian, and not European. Cyprus is now considered European due to cultural considerations. Turkey actually sits on the border of Europe and Asia, and is considered Asian in terms of physical geography but European in terms of politics.
Russia is an interesting thing. Russian geographers consider parts of the country from the Ural mountains to the west, as being part of Europe, while the parts east of the Urals is classed as Asian.
If you think Cyprus and Turkey's geographical classification is screwed, try Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Pakistan is Asian. It is sometimes grouped within the Greater Middle East, but this is a largely a rubbish political category coined by George W Bush to describe the Muslim countries near Europe.
The Middle East is correctly Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, the Arabian peninsula, and the land mass directly to the east of the Mediterranean Sea (Israel, Lebanon, etc.).
Pakistan and Afghanistan are Asian nations, as is Bangladesh (where did you get the idea it's in the Middle East?).
Hopefully he'll be picked up by a works team somewhere. He obviously doesn't have a budget for anything, but I think he's proven that he might be a worthwhile investment for a works drive.
Perhaps he could find somewhere to race in one of the Le Mans series or the Japanese Super GT, if not an F1 seat.
Kenjiro Shinozuka and Hiroshi Masuoka have won the Dakar rally three times between them. Nobuhiro Tajima is the current Pikes Peak unlimited class record holder. Toshi Arai won the Production WRC championship twice. Tetsuya Harada and Daijiro Kato were MotoGP 250cc champions; Kazuto Sakata and Haruchika Aoki 125cc champions. Seiji Ara and Masanori Sekiya were Le Mans 24 Hours winners.
...and that's just from 5 minutes worth of Googling.
Motorsport doesn't start and stop with just F1. Nor is it limited to only Europe.
I've been quietly surprised that Alonso hasn't said much about the incident, and is taking it in his stride... even grinning from ear to ear while Trulli and Sutil were jibbering behind him.
Trulli needs to build a bridge and get over it. He's about to lose his Toyota seat for next season and is trying way too hard to save face. Perhaps the two should have a cage match or something.
For sure, it will be hard to win this season, but the team is working hard toward maintaining 2nd. For sure, we can keep ahead of Hyperactive in the last race.
Well, I went from about 20-something in the beginning, to 2nd now. So it hasn't been all bad.
It's the tendency for a lot of F1 drivers (managers too) to prefix a sentence with the phrase, "for sure" during interviews. Example: "For sure, I would have liked to win, but there was nothing more I could do".
I think it started with Michael Schumacher. It's particularly rampant within Ferrari.
If Michael Schumacher got away with using "for sure" so many times, why not Button? Why are you trying to interpret the regulations inconsistently for different drivers? You're as biased as Alan Donelley!
