Sorry for asking such a basic question, but I have been away a long time .
I already have the April Revolution Pack, so is this new one meant to be installed over the old one and upgrade it? Or is it meant to replace the old one completely?
TIP: If you want a quick and user-friendly way to maintain the framerate when recording in-game footage, just switch to 16-bit colours. In 16-bit mode, your framerate won't nosedive even with all the graphics and anti-aliasing settings turned up.
I don't have any backups since the LFS self-extractor can always act as one. But which DDS files comprise the car interiors, that's what I want to know.
If I simply overwrite everything in the DDS folder, I would lose the new hi-res tyres, brake calipers, etc. as well when I only want to restore the default interiors.
I recently installed the LFS DB Hi-Res Pack. Overall I love it but the cockpits in some of the cars (those that received cockpit updates in the recent patch) are screwed up.
I don't know if anyone else feels the same way but for me personally the immersion of a race session goes for a toss everytime cars start crossing the start/finish line on the last lap.
Drivers just crash into walls or into each other or simply park anywhere they feel like.
It's not a big deal gameplay wise but it's a complete immersion killer.
Anyone else feel like this could use some work?
I have thought about various solutions like DQ'ing anyone who doesn't drive into the pits after the race is over or letting the AI take control over the car which will then drive the car safely into the pits.
Another good solution is pulling the drivers from the cars as soon as they cross the finish line and showing a kind of podium screen with the top 3 finishers.
Chatting and voting will be allowed during this 'podium celebration'.
That wasn't the intention I was simply pointing out that digital speedo's are very much real.
And even if they weren't, their existance in a sim would hardly affect its' aspirations towards realism.
It's less of a driving aid than say using a video camera as a rearview mirror.
I think the problem is that you don't provide the right incentive to race on CD2. Most people will pick a larger grid over a cleaner grid anyday, specially when the cleaner grid is 2 seconds faster and they have no chance of being competitive.
Your new points system sounds good, it's actually focussed on weeding out the clean drivers rather than the fast ones.
I reduced negative camber in the front-left wheel and increased the pressure by 15 psi in all tyres and it seems to be much better now.
The hottest it gets is around 107 degrees on the innermost edge, with the mid hovering at around 95.
1. A 'true' wide-screen effect for 4:3 displays.
Sure everything will get a bit smaller, but the extra fov is more than worth it.
2. Make temperory setup changes behave like ISI sims, ie. they never get saved unless you hit the 'Save' button.
Saves a LOT of trouble backing up setups just to try simple changes before each race.
3. The F9, F10 displays hide the position list.
Surely it can't be a big deal for them to be able to co-exist?
Turns out when I drop JPG skins in the 'skins' folder, they don't get automatically converted to DDS. Why so?
I can only see them after creating a new color and even then it's just a COL file with the JPG texture applied to it.
Since there's no DDS whatsoever, how will other people download and see my new skin?
I can't do much about smooth throttle inputs since I play with a gamepad and that means either being on or off the throttle.
And off isn't an option in the FXR since the turbo lag destroys you
Playing with the pressure and camber settings seems to help a bit. What are some good pressure and camber values for a 10 lap race around Aston National in the FXR?
I recently bought S2 and have been racing on the ConeDodgers server CD1 (great server btw ), and it seems every race no matter how much I prevent wheel lock-ups, the front-left tyre always gets overheated by lap 6 or so.
Take a look at the screenshot, that happens every race leading to increasingly deteriorating pace during the final laps
I am using a setup from the Setup Field.
I don't know much about them setups but I did try adding some pressure and it didn't look like it helped.
