Everyony should be doing the same thing. Go through each replay from the perspective of every car and learn from them. We've got 3 weeks to get our acts together.
nnooooo! don't leave! We're not criticizing you personally... just suggestions to make the events even better! It's for any SC driver... It wasn't anything you did, trust me.
Session 8: Lap 10 @ approx 20 minutes, 25 seconds... the yellow is waved.
Have the SC start rolling when the leaders reach the little bend in the front-straight. I also recommend that the SC be geared so that the driver can keep the pedal down all the way to maintain a consistant speed.
Good point... The Race officials have the right to deem ANYONE unsafe to race the 500 at ANYTIME. This means that some of you drivers really need to think about your skills and how to improve them.
Being booted from racing the Kyoto 500 for poor driving skills would really be embarrassing (at least for me it would). Again, don't be afraid to ask questions about how to handle your car in certain situations. (start a new topic in the forums or PM a good driver for help). I, for one, like to help people improve. I'm not saying I knoiw everything (i still have much to learn), but if I can make a difference, then I did my job. The better driver you are, the safer and FASTER you will go!
Yea, yea, yea... lol. I'm just trying to think "Safety First"! As a driver, and watching the replays (over and over) from the view of each and every driver, it may help. There are so MANY people who know nothing about brake and throttle control.
I've got an idea... When the yellow flag comes out, is it possible to have the SC continue to roll. I noticed it parks on the track in the middle of turn 1 and waits for the field to come up to the back of it, resulting in quite a few bumps and bruises.
When we come around, i noticed many people have to slow very quickly to prevent overtaking it. Afterall, we're moving at a reatively high speed (130mph) compared to a parked car. lol
Maybe having it keep rolling will prevent some of these issues.
I meant to add this to that last post I made, but O'Keefe, please take a look at your car during session 8 starting at 46:00,00 (at the 46 minute mark). Press F9 and notice how you are jerking the car back and forth (Rush, rush, rush!). Notice how you burned up your clutch and had to end your session. There is no hurry my friend... that leads me back to the original post I made of....
________
I hope you saved these replays. Why push so hard at the starts?
________
Guys... we have one month to get ready for this and I recommend that everyone save the replays and learn from them. Watch them over and over so you learn from your mistakes. Not only that, but you can learn alot about other drivers habits (bad and good) just by watching them.
Think of this as a big game of chess. What's your next move? Do you know your plan 3 laps ahead of time? My goal is to help you all realize there is a lot more to racing than just passing the guy in front of you. P.S. why else would Deko have us racing on R2s? lol
Definately NOT! lol ...just stay behind the person in front of you and wait for a good opportunity to pass. Let that person do the work... afterall, you're saving gas (and tires) by staying in thier draft... and THAT is what will make you win during a 4 hour long race.
Well, you know what I'm going to say here. ALWAYS pass to the left... (unless you have no other choice). Passing another car on the right is extremely risky and in most cases, will not get you anywhere. Actually, you'll slow everyone down most of the time.
Well said...
At the start of the race, (when the green flys) the 3 row formation should stay nearly the same after you pass Turn 1. In other words, STAY IN YOUR LANE even if you have to lift the throttle....
I can't say it enough.... patience! 270 laps is a long way and you NEVER, EVER win on the first lap.
I want everyone to have a good chance and above all, a SAFE race, but with most of the setups I've seen so far, well you wont last long on R2s. A few sets were even smoking the tires at turn 3 around lap 35. I'd hate to see anyone 'BLACK FLAGGED' because thier car was deemed unsafe for racing.
I'll look into this. Someone keeps changing it back to R3s and R4s.
Anyway, On an 8 lap race (like our servers are set for), you wont learn much about tire wear, BUT you will learn a lot about driving techniques on the Oval. Whether on R2s or R4s, I highly recomend that some of you join and learn something. Feel free to ask questions to those that can help. Don't be shy.
