A copy of XP costs <£50, as a Mac user I'd rather pay that than push the price up for everyone else even by a penny. They don't need the Mac parts, so why should they pay?
For someone who has any sort of computer skill (which most LFS players will have) installing and maintaining Windows is extremely easy. Apple provides complete instructions for the installation process and partitioning using Boot Camp Utility is a breeze. As for maintaining, download free AV, firewall and spyware utilities and run them every month or so.
I think when you say "most mac users are not able to install/use Windows" what you really mean is "I'm too stupid to work it out and I own a Mac, so that must mean everyone else is stupid too". Any user of any OS can use a "foreign" OS perfectly well after about a day.
Also as others have said, LFS is very CPU intensive (with a full grid of AI cars even I see my fps drop below 40 on my iMac). Having something else eating the CPU is not a good idea. Also, there would be compatability issues with controllers and FFB under OS X.
I love Safari in OS X (haven't tried the new beta) but the windows version is pretty bad. It won't work with my mouse's back button so I chucked it almost instantly.
GPS is fairly accurate, often more so than some cars. As someone else said, a car can over-read by up to 10% (though they are not allowed to under-read). It can be know how bad your speedo can be, a friend of mine has an oldish car that reads 80 at 70.
That crash, while spectacular, was not as major as it seemed. A red flag is used when it's going to take a considerable amount of time to prepare the track for racing again, such as a multi-car crash (think Spa a few years ago).
The FIA often uses a pace car where a red flag should be used, but I think under today's circumstances a pace car was fair.
Also, red light is red light. It doesn't matter if it should have been green or not, the fact is they drove through a red light while others waited and were rightly punished.
It was a great race, today has been a good motorsports day.
That was much more than straight line speed. Stoner was holding Rossi well in the corners. As others said, Rossi's brakes into the first corner out-did Stoner's speed on the main straight. Stoner was much faster through left-hand corners and was consistently getting the power on smoother and earlier.
To say that it was purely due to Ducati being fast is nonsense, Stoner is a great racer and it's time to admit that Rossi isn't quite the god he has been.
Biggest surprises of the race for me were the Super Aguri drivers. Davidson making it up to 3rd (!) and Sato overtaking Alonso on the brakes into the last chicane. It reminded me of the few races for BAR where Sato was very fast, before he became an unreliable mess.
Actually, yes. I like to change the classes I race every day. Some days I like TBO, some days I like LRF, some days (shock horror) I want to play on the oval (but I usually get bored after one race).
The LRF and TBO classes are a lot of fun, but it was the same car/track combos for the entire lot.
I posted a thread quite a while ago with some ideas for HUD improvements and it met with warm reception, I still think some of my ideas should be implemented in some way.
Get rid of the exhaust, put a single (and smaller) one on.
Get rid of the nitrous.
Get rid of the tail lights.
Get rid of the underglow.
Put a roll cage in.
Put some real track shocks/springs in instead of whatever has been used to lower it.
Put some racing harnesses in.
Get new wheels/tyres.
I have a feeling you'd be very disappointed if we actually got an RX 7, because it wouldn't be the amazing supercar FnF has told you it is. It would be just like driving the XRT.
