The string would be 3910m long (from your hand, till it touches the ground)

12,742,000 m Diameter
6,371,000 m Radius
Radius plus 4 feet = 6,371,001.2192 meter
Pythagorian Theorem...
We know the 'a' (which is the line from earth's center to where the string touches the ground),
We know the 'c' (which is the line from earth's center to where the string touches the hand (a + 121cm or 4 feet))
So we can calculate X (the short side of the triangle).

X(2) = c(2) - a(2)
X = sqrt((637100121)^2 - (637100000)^2) = 3926.55338 meters.

On average... The earth is not a perfect sphere (although more perfect than a billiard ball requires to be )

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Stock cars will be fun for the first week, until people realise you can only drive it in circles.

You are so right!

That's why they also race at Infineon, Watkins Glen, and Montreal... And used to race in Mexico city.

I'd still rule that pass interference, if my NCAA/Madden skills are anything to go by (11-0 NCAA dynasty so far....1-1 Madden franchise), but it's a close call.

Also the pass is wayy over/underthrown

EDIT: Probably Snead throwing that pass, judging by the past few games he's had

Edit: Dustin. Define cross checking. I got told it's semi-legal in lacrosse

It's not pass interference. It can only be pass interference when the person trying to catch the ball has a chance of accomplishing that task and was brutally denied that accomplishment by the person doing the interfering.

This can never be pass interference as he gives up the ball well before the hit.

Quote from Bose321 :I've dealt with that, with a massive 230MM Fan on the side, it cools better with panel then without.

You know most PCs cool better with a side panel than without.
It's something to do with airflow inside the case.

Quote from SidiousX :No they aren't!!! That's the point we are trying to make!

Uhmmm...

Yes they are, as per the RULE BOOK!

All the cars need to fit the same template, where as the old rules had a different template for each make.

Quote from iMCk. :

Yes it's confirmed the Australian V8 Supercar series will kick off the first round overseas at Abu Dhabi. Not only do the v8's start overseas but round 2 will be at Bahrain. I think it's the first time the category has ever start the series with a overseas round well two overseas rounds to kick off a championship.

When I first heard about this I was like what on earth are they doing?
But i'm slowly starting to like the idea but still iffy about it.
Round 1 and Round 2 only have a week between them. Makes you wonder how the teams will cope if their cars get damaged at Abu Dhabi.

Now for all the Australian's it would have to suck because most of us will be watching it at midnight.

What do you guys think? Bad move or good?

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/ ... bu_dhabi_start_confirmed/

Well, they've had middle-east rounds at Bahrain for a couple of years. Adding one makes good business sense, probably. Coupled with GP2 Asia, I suppose?

Now, if they would just add one on the European continent... Zandvoort, preferably

That sounds logical, since recording the RAF starts the next time you cross the s/f line.
On the dragstrip that is just the finish line, and it's the only time you cross it.

Not sure if this is a bug or by design. It's something that is caused by the design of the RAF system, though.

ps. That "other site" has no invitation system. But URL of the site shall be kept secret. Except if it's mentioned in any form of private messaging. (This is pretty obvious hint...)

I wouldn't mind finding any sort of mention of this "other site" that I've heard a lot about in my PMs...

Also, if there's any S2 licensed person still wanting an invite... I've one left.

Quote from MadCat360 :lol, so you think you can podium in the 24 hours of daytona in a prototype, eh?

Sure... Qualify, race for 20 minutes, at the first yellow get out of the car and don't get in anymore..

That's the same way she did it.

As early as 1950 there were scandals about genders.

A dutch woman was banned from the sport after the dutch athletics association performed a dubious sex-test and found her to be a man.

Quote from tmehlinger :Yes, I use Bourns rotary digital contacting encoders. They send quadrature code output, the U-HID interprets one button press for one direction and another button press for the other direction (which is exactly what you want ).

Adjusting roll bars, brake balance, etc. with the knobs will require some shenanigans with LFS scripts. I'm pretty sure it will work, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks... I'll see if I can get a couple of those.

Scripting is a challenge, yes. But it should indeed work.

Can you tell me what kind of dials you've used?

I've been looking for a couple that give different signals depending on the direction of turn (1 button for left, 1 button for right) but haven't found one...

Would be sweet for adjusting rollbar/brakebalance, and do pit adjustments (like more/less fuel).

Quote from Mustafur :Not really, Honda stated financial reasons but also said the engine freeze was a main reason as well.

Honda wanted out, and was entitled to leave... Which is when Max proposed an agreement with the manufacturers to make sure they wouldn't leave.

The point was... In order to get the FIA to accept most of the FOTA's demands, the FOTA teams had to agree to commit themselves through 2012. There's a signed agreement. Which means absolutely nothing if BMW is now withdrawing. Which means they're simply unreliable and should be ignored in any decision making process, just as they ignore the agreements they themselves sign.

At least now it's clear why manufacturers themselves did not want to commit to 2012 in december resulting in the cost-cap war earlier this year. I fear it will now start all over again.

If this is true, then it is exactly what Max wanted to prevent with his cost-cap.
Just goes to show that you can't make deals with manufacturers. Nor should you, ever.
