Tomba: Seriously, just quit it. You've screwed this thread up enough as it is.

Anyway, I found this pic quite funny :P

I doubt that it's overclocked, the actual MHz usually varies from the 'advertised' speed.

I had a Pentium 4 a while back that claimed to be 3200MHz, it was actually about 3220, So you should be fine with the AMD. I really doubt it would overclock it's self.

My Athlon 620 is about 40C absolute max, playing GTA4 for a while will only get it to about 40, I've yet to see one that makes it go higher.
Even my HDD gets hotter :P

Try downloading SpeedFan and see if your CPU temps are near the limit.
There also may be an option in the BIOS to display a PC health check before loading Windows (it shows temps, fan RPM's etc), my pc has this activated, but yours might not.

If it can boot up far enough, press F8 just after the Power on Self-test and load into safe mode, see if that happens. If it boots, you can try a restore (probably your only choice). If not, I'm afraid you'll probably need the disc.

Quote from dadge :yeah, it's your graphics card. that screen should be blue

This.
A real redscreen looks like this:

Yours is just a 'corrupted' bluescreen

Quote from TheAdmiester :Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll just leave it for now.

As a reply to this conversation, I've noticed that the first screen of my BIOS mentions 447MHz, so I suppose that'll be the RAM. It's certainly not the CPU

For the 'running XP on the same machine' case, you could try Windows XP Mode.
If you have W7 Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate (maybe also Home Premium, can't remember) you can download it for free, it sets up a virtual PC running XP on your computer.
MS say they did it for compatability and other things, so it should work if you're still having problems.

Quote from Feffe85 :TBCH, i have NO idea whatsoever.. I cant think of a good reason to call it Celeron "D" if the "D" dont stand for DUAL/DUAL-CORE or whatever.. Strange as hell

Could stand for Desktop, since the M in Celeron M stands for mobile IIRC, and it's only used in laptops.

EDIT: I just noticed I bumped this topic, nevermind :X

Quote from amp88 :If you're interested in finding out your current RAM frequency (among other things) you can download a tool called CPU-Z. If you run that you get a lot of information (CPU clock speed, FSB, multiplier, cache, RAM clock, RAM latency etc). See the attachment in this post for an example.

Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll just leave it for now.

What's the fastest car you own in Forza, everyone? Mine is a 'vette C5, nine hundred and something horsepower, 255mph when I click Benchmark, but I can never get it to actually go that fast since it likes to go sideways with the slightest flick of the analogs :P

Here's a pic of the R35 GT-500 I have, it's R1 908.

I got it from here: http://www.netcarshow.com/lancia/1982-rally_037_gruppo_b/
There's a few other hi-res pics of it. I used the 1600x1200 one and centered it.

EDIT: New background for the laptop (the 037 is on my desktop), it's a 599XX for those who are wondering.

Quote from Victor :it's not eric's birthday. There was a bug that for some reason gave certain people 30 November as their bday. That's fixed now though.

What a strange and precise bug
Happy birthday guys (guy?) anyway

I heard he was driving an old VW Caddy and he went over a rough patch, and there was a hole in one of the roads, so he lost control and swerved into the fairway :P

Quote from Shadowww :Wrong. If you PC can do 60+ all the time, you must use VSync. This way your hardware won't be pushed to limits = less overheating and less power usage.

Actually, he's right. Although there's no point in turning Vsync off unless you get an FPS higher than your monitor's refresh rate, it can still cause visual tearing on the screen.
