Hello all,
I have a working prototype for a VW Golf IV estate in LFS, but I cannot publish it, because the polycount is just under 150k. I need to convert from .SRE to .OBJ so I can then run it through a program that reduces the polycount down to just under 60k.

I completely agree. A - The chance of the LFS devs making the mods system available to s2 or s1 users is almost none. B - The likelihood of someone spending just £12 more to play with mods and so many more servers is quite high. All the proof I need is the amount of demo vs licensed users playing before the mods update vs after the mods update.

These are just crude ideas, but please take them into consideration Smile

1 - In the car setup screen, there could maybe be a button that triggers an animation of the car going over bumpy/smooth tarmac, or rallycross dirt that could make tuning the car's suspension a lot easier. There would also be a speed slider to control how fast the animation is played.

2 - In the car info tab in the garage (Engine type, Power, Displacement, etc.), if there was a v8 engine in the car then the info would display if it was a flatplane or a crossplane.

1 - Load the mod in lfs, then close lfs. Open the "mods" folder of your LFS
2 - Drag the folder that contains your mod into the "vehicles" folder if your LFS editor
3 - Open LFS editor, and select it from the list

Another graphical problem - on Aston, there are some splits on the road surface that disappear as you get closer.

Another problem: If the car has 7 speed transmission and 4WD, the torque split and final drive will be mashed together.

One issue with mod engine sound: if you shift+a, all engine sounds are displayed.

What happens if you want to download a replay? One would need to download additional stuff just for the sound parameters. During a race, one would need to constantly send and receive all this data from all connected players. I see lags, problems.. I do hope I am wrong about this.

@Scawen

I had an idea for improving the lfs experience.
When you customize your engine sound using Shift + A, it sounds like everyone has
your sound applied
so if it was server-side, everyone would have their own custom engine sound without anyone
else sounding like they have it.




(I really explained this badly)
