Good suggestion badam. Currently that would mean starting towards a sharp left turn into pits xD - I have some improvements going on, including a later end of the banked turns (currently it's fairly easy to hit the wall, especially after T2 when the track goes flat again). I'll have a look what needs to be done for a reverse configuration.
Clitoris obviously was still in french crash server mode... sort of ruined the race for a few of us... not filing an official protest, but I don't want to see such behaviour from him again either :-/ not just in T2, but also later on.
Since you have much more experience with layouts, what would it take to use this on servers, e.g., for RTFR XL?
I've noticed that without layouting grid positions, I am placed on P1 of the original layout, and pits work too, but there's no speed limit in pits. Other than that, do you have to do something for airio to work properly?
Well well... after UM's comments I felt quite motivated to work on this, postponed a couple of things and started from scratch... so there we are:
South City Minioval Version 2!
banked turns
even weirder pit entry, using actual pits
banking optimised to make UF1 inside and outside lap times similar
some styling added
Beta in a sense that the levels of the banking could be a little smoother. But good fun so far. Enjoy!
Btw I still haven't figured out why hotlapping sometimes says hotlap invalid, wrong direction...
Congrats to top 3, and great video lucaf, that director thing is really good . Unfortunately my network was odd that night, not sure why. Had good fun in the first two laps though xD.
Well done lucaf, considering that some good guys like Rik and FasT had to retire you did great! It really is a tricky little car on that track. Great video too .
UM, please feel free to modify/extend/do whatever you want with it, looking forward to see the results! Indeed after seeing some of your layouts today I thought about banked turns, but I will likely be too busy during the next weeks to work on that.
Problem with banked turns might be the fixed tire stacks, so the entire oval would be rather high, but it could be possible.
It might not be as great as UM's or Nova's, but I thought I could share my first layout... (well, second actually, my first attempt was "blue flag horror" at rockingham, if you're interested... ;-) )
... South City Minioval!
including the weirdest pit entry I could come up with ...
Should work fine, but considered beta, any thoughts and suggestions welcome.
Suggested cars: slower road cars, e.g. UF1, XFG. Race cars (FOX, FBM) are more challenging.
Good fun indeed . Impressive pace by Yann and FasT.
I had a look at the replay and was equally surprised by Ring's behaviour, literally just braking as he wrecked Adebayor in T1, no immediate apologies, not even letting him past after the incident. Definitely worth a protest.
I agree with J@tko. After I had a quick look at the replay, his reaction to the rough battling was insane. If I remember correctly, this wasn't the first time we experienced such a behaviour, although not as bad as today.
Riddick, he didn't ruin YOUR race. It was OUR race. You're not alone here.
All in all, I enjoyed the race even though I got spun in T1 and had to chase after the field. Sorry to kid for my silly attempt to turn.
Sad I couldn't take part again, but it's really good to see that RTFR still sports a really nice grid considering the competition of more recent sims. way to go! hope I can join again next time.
Great summary Rony, and fun footage Mandula. I'm quite happy with the result, trying to play it safe payed off in the end. And UM21 showing off, I just saw it in Mandula's steam, hilarious :-D
Congrats Yann, your car looks quite a bit more intact compared to mine after the race :-D thanks to Rony for the nice combo and quick result post. Fun race all in all, even though I wasn't competitive.
As usual, fun race and good combo! I'm glad I finished after almost flipping in the hairpin, losing 5th position. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a relaxed road car race now, maybe in sunny Fern Bay? ;-)
