anyone that wants to put a car into neutral while doing heel and toe at that speed is silly, for instance if its a cold track and your wheels are cold you can make the car slide very easily, so say your doing 150mph your heavy on the brakes your cars in neutral and your car begins to slide, you put your foot down to pull it out of a slide but o wait, cars sliding and you have no engine pulling power as your in neutral, its a rather silly thing to do really

Quote from Hallen :Also, heel/toe doesn't necessarily literally mean heel.

The most common practice that I have seen and heard described is a more rolling motion with your foot.

not strictly true, i do heel and toe and use my heel and my toe to do it (make my foot perpendicular with the pedals toe on brake, heel on accelerator) as i feel this is the most comfortable/best way for me to do it, the foot rolling method as you said is another way to do it, same method just alot more people use it as car pedals have become closer together as cars have moved on one of my mates does the foot rolling as he prefers that method and my dad does the brake and clutch with the left foot and accelerator with the right... its all down to choice and how you feel comfortable doing it

Quote from DragonCommando :
Heel-toe isn't for engine braking, its to prevent the shock created by the engine suddenly being spun up.

this is true because if you shift down in a rear wheeled car to quickly you can send the tail out, try it in lfs, go to the car park get into 3rd or 4th gear and shift down, then do it using heel and toe, you'll see a difference

Quote from ajp71 :Very few racing cars retain a tiptronic system even if the standard car was fitted with one because either a proper H pattern gearbox or true racing sequential are a far more sensible choice for a racing car. The only non-road based semi-automatic gearboxes can be found in F1 cars and they do not have an automatic parking brake. I'd love you to actually find some kind of source for all this nonsense your posting

its not really a hand brake or brake as such, from what i was told from a guy who works on F1 cars (so it could be all rubbish) but it works like a clutch bite so to speak the formula one car as you slow down and you put it into neutral the clutch comes to a biting point to hold the car level on a hill e.g. if your sittin on an incline it holds the biting point until you make the car move or so he tells me that was at my dads formula one driving day thing

no race cars have handbrakes, or very few do but most of them are tiptronic they have a 'automatic parkin brake' or something or other that

In-Game Pit Options and Single Seater Options
welshys90

First Idea: I have noticed that while racing if you shift+P and change your pit settings when you click ok it resets you to the back of the pack which can be very annoying if your only changin the tire wear to a lower level so itll change when you pit, my suggestion is that you can change your pit settings while racing as any driver in a real race would be able to do this through his headphones with pit crew

Second Idea: for all the single seater cars e.g. FBM, Formula XR, Formula V8, BMW Sauber. in real formula one cars you can change differential settings, fuel settings and brake settings etc in the car however cant on lfs why dont you have an option for this, yes i am only a demo user and for all i know this could be on the cars already but it wasnt on the FBM and i see that as being a smaller formula one car, do the cars have these abilities/ will lfs have these abilities in later updates?

Quote from frokki :There's no need for voice communication in random pickup race servers imo. What would you need to say to the others that you can't type? Nothing. I can think only negative points.

And more organized things, well they're organized, so you can easily organize communication services too.

it would be helpful in a 24 hour race and for those that race with a keyboard its hard to race and type at the same thing and causes chaos

i think this would be a good idea however only in the pits to do so

Quote from tongey :No mate, if you choose 500 servers, you get a Web-based interface to setup your server which is quite easy to use...

The only 'programming' so-to-speak is a simple text file (cfg) which allows you to change things....for example

So above, would setup 10 laps as Aston Cadet in the FOX, with no wind and a forced pitstop
All this is editable on the web-interface and a default config file is already stored for you

cheers for this, yeah iknow how a config file works its easy enough

Quote from franky500 :Just to note that there is also a configuration page with drop down boxes to select the available options instead of editing the config file by hand. see attachment.

@welshey.

If you are thinking of renting from 500servers at all, feel free to login to the demo account on our control panel: http://81.19.219.136:81 user: demo pass: demo

Should give a fair idea of what is involved and how easy / difficult it is.

i did try your demo account however it didnt let me log in for some reason :/

Quote from jasonmatthews :Well depends how you do it mate. If you plan to run it off your home connection I think the most you can expect is 8 racers at a time. I would recommend 500 servers if you plan on having any more than that as they are the best IMO and cheapest... If you take this route they will provide all you need to know

i feel i would get one off 500 servers, although the only problem is would i have to learn a new coding language or am i able to click buttons and basically have it done for me so to speak i do know some computing languages but not any in great detail cheers.!

well i take my racing really quite seriously when it comes to LFS so none of it is intentional. However after reading the rules i just thought i better check as it does cost £24 and personally as a student thats alot of money so i dont want to lose a license

Moving to S2 worry

hey ive been playing Live for Speed for quite a while now and after realizing im actually not half bad and asking for a steering wheel for Christmas to start half decent my brother offered to buy S2 for me for my christmas, so naturally im over the moon, however as Multiplayer is one of my favourite places to play im slightly worried that my account/license will get banned/kicked because while playing in Multiplayer in Demo mode just now on a few occasions i have been kicked/banned normally for going down the straight on Blackwood at an immense rate while having a car infront me which brakes alot earlier than i would at the end of the straight and me ending up into the back of it because i wasnt quick enough on the brakes and even though i type sorry as quickly as i can on occasions ive been kicked/banned and im worried that this may happen in S2 and i loose my license

Cheers

Scott

would it maybe be a suggest to put in the ability to use a microphone which will help with a 24 hour race or longish races between team members however i know alot of people get put off by the fact that it may distract them but if they think it may distract them then why not just not use it?
