found time to code another small application for the G15 which is called 'LFS Buddies for G15'.

Features:
- Displays which of your LFS buddies is currently online
- Notification is shown when a buddy goes online/offline
- Buddy details show server and track configuration information

Carefully read the 'readme.txt' ... and keep in mind: version 0.1.0 ... there might still be some bugs hidden (probably they will be obvious, ).

Ermm, one thing: You have to be connected to the internet to use the application (which itself in an interval of 60 seconds requests the host information from LFS-world).

Yes, it does. A racer from the german lfs forum just confirmed this. AFAIK, the V2 LCD has the same resolution but is roughly 60% smaller than the old G15.


BTW: Version 0.9.3 is available. Although this thread is in german, you should be able to understand the change history / features by reading the included readme.txt and taking a look at the screenshots ... just download "LiveForG15_vX.X" (readme.txt is included) and - if necessary - the LCD-Fonts archive and follow the installation instructions.

Good news ... I re-enabled Kamels race information page and added a new feature (calculation and display of recommended refuel amount, see readme.txt for explanation).

Important: After unpacking the application, please change the path to your LFS installation in "configuration.txt", otherwise the application won't start (needs to read your current playername from the LFS config).

top 3 apps for me are:

1) G15 teamspeak viewer
2) Miranda (ICQ) plugin
3) Rays Winamp plugin

You'll find them in the above mentioned forum.

very important: you really need to change the path to your current installation of LFS in the file "configuration.txt" (corresponding error message should be found in LFG.log).

Another issue: The app might lose its connection when going into pits. In this case it might help to disconnect/reconnect by pressing key 3 on the g15 two times.

I'm just curious: What happens, if the balancing is changed again (before the 24h race) and the XRR would have a 5% air restriction? Is it possible to add a negative penalty to the car?

I've got an Gainward 7800GS GLH AGP graphics adapter (which with default settings is running at 450GPU/700Memory in 2d and 500/700 in 3d) in my athlon x2 4600+ system.

By chance I observed the following thing:

- I benchmarked the performance of my system using the LFS benchmark (-> http://lfsbench.iron.eu.org/)
- take a look at the results at attachment 1 (avg fps = 54.200)
- since I was curious about the influence of different AA/AF settings I opened the nvidia control panel and minimized it to be able to quickly change the AA/AF settings
- because I wasn't sure, if the 3d display of the rotating eye in the nvidia control panel was invalidating the result of my first test, i repeated the test with the control panel minimized to the task bar
- benchmarking the system again with no changes to the configuration i was getting the results as displayed in attachment 2 (avg fps = 64.833)

Doing really a couple of tests, I am able to repeat this anytime: With the rotating nvidia eye of the control panel running in the background I always get ~10fps more than without a running control panel.

Even watching the clock frequencies using the riva tuner there were no differences: Starting LFS (btw: S2W) the GPU frequency raised from 450 (2d) to 500 (3d).

the magic is called 'dynamic LOD reduction' and can be found in the MISC options. Set the slider to a value as low as possible.

Wow! That first couple of D1 races were really amazing. Never seen a timetable with such good laptimes up to the bottom of the grid before.

From my point of view this was pure fun. Although stumbling in both races due to some accidents in front of me - but I guess I wasn't the only one - I really enjoyed both of them, .
