The online racing simulator
Now THIS is the kind of modelling we should be getting close to!!!
Could you imagine having this amount of detail in LFS?, or any other sim for that matter?.

The hi-res link is so much nicer to look at, but it's 150mb's

Obviously computer systems aren't powerfull enough, yet, but GT5's modelling is getting to this stage, and this model was designed for GT5's polygon and texture specifications.

Looks amazing
Very nice if you have 19 4870x2 in Cross-fire, a Oct-quad CU and stuff!

But agreed, it's very nice. Then again, this is just a fancy render rather than actual 'footage', so I'd expect quality to be halfed.

If we got a simular level of graphics in LFS as we do in say, Forza or Race or something, I'd be happy happy.
Oh snap, that CCX looks ultra real! I can't imagine just yet, as my PC ain't for those sorta graphics.

Look at what I found on the 'proper graphics' web::lovies3d:

Just one or two smatterings of fail.. there was no camera reflection in the body. The courtyard square also didn't line up with the background buildings.

Nit-picking, I know, but since the intention in the video is clearly to be as realistic as possible, these are where it fell down a little. Beautiful render, otherwise.

.

I think the courtyard was supposed to be raised.

That car does look superb though!
Probably not that many polygons either - apart from the lights. It's possible to achieve very good renders from quite low poly counts.

I don't think the point was "as realistic as possible", I think the point was, "as realistic as possible, whilst still falling within GT5's polygon and texture boundaries"

They should definitely render that stereoscopically and show it on 3d hardware.
The interior really looked very touchable. Regarding the exterior I wasn't happy with some surface properties.
Nevertheless stunning work.

The vents in the middle of the dash look like cheap plastic
Hmmmm I assumed posting porn was against the rules?

(the shift stick seems a little tall, is that so in the real car too?)

The surroundings are just an environment map, which is why they seem completely disconnected from the "ground".
:jawdrop: unbeliavable, especially the interior... stunning!

Pretty impressive. Interesting to note that from the outside it was pretty damn realistic. Only a couple of minor things like the glass being too transparent most of the time (given it was a bright sunny day), and the Carbon being too shiny. However, the second the vid moves in to the interior it becomes immediately obvious that it's computer generated. Somehow the intererior textures just dont seem to have that "real" feel, especially the alloy parts.

That said, THAT is what I'm talking about when I talk about real high quality in-game graphics, not the stupidly bloomed cartoony effects of NFS etc. LFS has a long way to go to achieve anything close to it.
reflections are a bit fake.

And, someone should invent round polygons, cause all this doesn't work with a circle with 16 holdupthingies.

I guess one day, when multiple (more than 4) dimensions are reflected inside 3d-programs, round polygons ARE possible. (that's what I hope)
am i really the only one who sees that the materials are completely off for the most part? the carbon is particularly bad
Quote from Shotglass :am i really the only one who sees that the materials are completely off for the most part? the carbon is particularly bad

The carbon isn't that bad. Carbon comes in lots of different forms. Some of it is very smooth and shiny. Some of it, is quite dull. So I don't think you can say that the carbon looks unrealistic per se.
it does even if only for that its just a black and white texture instead of shimmering fibres
Koenigsegg CCX HD Render (or Gran Turismo 6)
Pure rendering porn. Some modeling company did a HD render of Koenigsegg CCX, just to show off, they offered the model to Polyphony Digital but say that this is not curently possible on PS3, especially the interior, but gives you a hint what GT6 might look like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fIqRk6pYQ8&eurl
F*ck, i hate that sorry then..
Really great stuff indeed. Some stills of the render in this thread, as well as a bit of info:

Quote :
Koenigsegg CCX. In-game model done by Gran Turismo 5 standards. Done by blueprints and huge amount of photo reference.
Poly budget: 192 449 triangles. Textures: in total diffuse, normal bump and specular less than 2048x2048 each.
Only in-game textures were used for render. Only normal bump - no displacement.

Modeled by Gleb Zhilevich (guided by Yury Rybakov), some textures and rendering by Yury Rybakov.

Note the double fail: GT6!
It's TOO perfect! I know IRL it would be polished to the nth degree, but there'd at least be dust collecting on as the camera moves round! I mean, look at the thing you plug your seatbelt into - surely it should be a piece of slightly dull, non-reflective bit of plastic!

In other words, computers can achieve a degree of perfection higher than IRL.
OMG me is totaly blown away i didnt even knew this was possible.

Just the sheir amount of quality is amazing
