Dont want to sound like a spoil sport but...
We have been given the amazing BMW F1 car which there must have been some serious effort put in to get BMW and Intel brands into LFS ,yet the first thing that happens is "we" reskin the car into BMW,s opponents?

Hardly good advertising for BMW (i realise there must be some technology exchange aswell) I would be pissed if it were my products being rebranded tbh..

that said im hoping someone does a Webber Williams for me

I'd be more than happy to re-paint their car in our team colors as well, just to keep the cars look the same

I rather felt the same, so I made sure that our team skin retains the BMW logo in acknowledgement of their support of LFS
have you noticed the billboards around the tracks now though?

they're getting their advertising.

It's also still a BMW Sauber no matter what you skin it as. I've been too busy enjoying it to reskin mine so far

I don't see the need in reskinning it at all. It's a real F1 car after all... we have wanted real cars in LFS from the beginning and now we do, why change back? I think this is the best step in the right direction that LFS has ever taken.

a real car is a real car no matter how you skin it.

I think the voice generated with the addition of the BMW Sauber car is already worthwhile, and do you think WE are really their target audience?? I think they are more keen on using LFS as a platform in order to reach out for other potential buyers rather than the LFS players themselves.
NASSA will keep the BMW Logo, in respect for all the hard work the devs put into this.

Game looks and feels great.

True i guess,
But if i want to sell coke i want to sell it in a coke can , no point packaging it in a rivals colours (ie pepsi)?

Wether your selling BMW cars or the BMW brand name , the whole point is to sell BMW i would have thought.

cos I think they ain't trying to sell BMW to us you know, they are using LFS for some other marketing purpose, be it the driving challenge thingy.

Honestly the size of LFS community alone isn't something that big which a blue chip company will invest on marketing specificly towards
Yes i realise not too many punters will be slipping off for a new m5 v10...
We can agree though its advertising yes? so the point remains the same.
Its just brand loyalty , even in this small way..
I think the fact they chose to include their car in LFS will score way more points with LFSers than a logo painted on a car, that's just me though
normally, there is a ford badge and 'cossie powered' on the side or somewhere on the ATC skins, but we left the bmw badges on the bf1, so as to give respect where its due

Yeah, you could rename Aston to "Intel/Petronas-World"... As much as I support the idea of having real advertisements on the tracks, this is very much overdone...
I really think it's unfair that we've been seeing new steering wheels changing the cockpits of the cars before the patch is even out. Skins aren't so important but I wouldn't complain if the devs locked the BMW cockpits away so we couldn't modify them. Anyone complaining about the Aston ads think of 2 things:

1. You can change them very very easilly.

2. Would you rather have not had the F1 car to loose the ads?
Could you imagine everyone racing the same skin day in day out, it would get tired very quickly. As for the billboards being overdone, I actually quite like them as it gives the tracks more of a race feel to them, and no doubt people will release alternatives to the billboards soon, so it's not really that big of a deal. Plus, these adverts are paving the way for LFS to excel to even higher standards in the future. Now that LFS has an affiliation with BMW we could possibly see more official content like Circuits and more cars.
I think it's quite fair of BMW Sauber (apparently) not to demand no-skinning of their car, and alone for that for that fact I don't think there's any reason to complain about their ads on tracks.

btw could someone find the DDS file with the intel logo on it and change it to AMD? :P
Quote from Bramski :Could you imagine everyone racing the same skin day in day out, it would get tired very quickly.

When you're on dialup, everyone has the same skin. Everyone's skin is WHITE!!!

I agree with you. Seeing the same BMW/Intel skin day in and day out would get tiring very quickly. I know it does with all white cars. Until I download them from the replays and hope I see the same folks the following night.
Aston is full of ads from partners of Sauber. I think thats enough.

Call me stupid but I didn't even notice them untill I read about them
And no, there's no reason to complain about that, we've received an amazing gift in return
Well im using the williams BMW skin, so i aint went that far off track.

Aston Hostoric is a bit stupid with all the ads now, but if thats what was required to give us the BF1, then i wont complain.
yeah i think that while they are being reskinned we ALL know that it really is a BMW sauber car underneath. The fact that they have different skins just makes the races look a whole lot more interesting.

as for the the bmw and intel adverts on aston, i like it, makes it seem more real. i had alot of the banners changed to real adverts anyway for that very purpose.
They know we are going to skin the car any way we want. They gave us the CMX viewer and the skin maps didn't they?
It is no disrespect to BMW Sauber to skin the car as a McLaren or Renault if you want. This is just the game and it would get boring if all the cars always had the same skins on them.
And as far as the ads around the tracks go... no problem. Ignore them or enjoy them, or change them, no big deal either way. The racing is what is important.
I am happy that we have this car and some support from actual racing teams. It is just plain too cool

Whatever skin you wear, it is still BMW steering wheel that you see when you sit in the cockpit.
