Look at the shape of them, they are like balooned out, obviously to contain the sound and make it respirate in there before being forced out.

It sounds like that because it has a crossplane crankshaft, it's not fancy exhaust work.. not to mention odd firing orders

So 4 cylenders doesnt sound good if Audi made a 4 cylinder car you lsay I love that sound so beatiful

An inline 4 four with a crossplane crank? i.e. only only one cylinder at TDC at any moment and 90° between firing points? It'll vibrate itself to death in about 2 minutes.

As a Ford nutter I should probably link to some Pinto with sidedrafts or similar but that sounds just too good for not getting linked.

Honestly one of the most beautiful sounds I know is a high revving N/A 4-pot with twin carbs or ITBs.

That BMW is a 6cyl... is what I was going to say till I realised it's an E30 and they used 2.3L IL4's IIRC.. nice sound.
