Making a Handbrake/More Buttons
I have an old USB gamepad that the odd button doesn't work. Instead of getting rid of it I can make more buttons out of it and possibly a axis handbrake. It has 2 analogue Sticks that work fine and some buttons that work super. Can I make it into a handbrake for this game (Live For Speed) and it will still work as a USB. Could I also have a few more buttons that work for the controls in the game. I just want to change my old controller. Is that possible and can you tell me how it can be done?
You can assign an Axis to the Handbrake as long as your gamepad supports the Axis and stuff. The reason why some of the buttons don't work is most likely because the drivers are poor and that windows/LFS doesn't support the controller/some of the functions well.
Depending on how good you are dismantling things you could try taking apart your controller and putting the innards into a switch box or something like that. There are a few people on the forum who have built sim cockpits that could give you the specifics. George Keyumji springs to mind, but I don;t think he posts that much anymore...

Watch out for the people about to tell you to buy S2....

i once made a handbrake from a PS3 controller using Duct tape, Lego and an aluminium rod.

Worked quite well, but now i use a standard cheapó joystick for it.
