Cribbage Hand Scoring Question
Another question to settle a bet from me...

If you had the following cards in your hand what score would you get and what would make up that score?

Communal card: Queen of Hearts

Hand: Jack of Diamonds, 10 of Diamonds, 9 of Diamonds and 9 of Spades.

Option 1:

2 - Pair of 9s
6 - 9D-10D-JD Straight
4 - 9S-10D-JD-QH Crooked
4 - 9D-10D-JD-QH Crooked

Total: 16

Option 2:

2 - Pair of 9s
6 - 9D-10D-JD Straight
4 - 9S-10D-JD-QH Crooked

Total: 12

Other?

My understanding is that option 1 is correct because you can use the card you didn't use in the straight run (i.e. the Queen of Hearts) in another run (the 9-Q crooked run). Am I correct?
BOTH of your possible answers are wrong..

the score would be:

10.

2 for the pair of nines, and 8 for the 2*4-card runs.

I dont know what homemade rules you play by if you get double points for a straight run, but in REAL crib you only get extra points for a flush...not for a run of the same suit.

I blame my parents!

They always teach me the rules that they play by or their parents taught them...not necessarily the proper ones.

Thanks.

edit:

Quote from Bladerunner :in REAL crib you only get extra points for a flush...not for a run of the same suit.

Wouldn't you get an extra 3 points for the flush of 3 then?

No...4 points only if ALL cards in your hand match, but for a flush in your CRIB, all FIVE cards (4 cards+hole card) must match
