Help with my HP pavillion dv9000
sorry for starting a new thread just for this but i'm completely stumped

for a couple of days my laptop has been stuck at 54% battery power, it's pluged in and will run like that but it wont charge. In the power options menu it says "54% avaiilable (plugged in, not charging)"

It's probably something simple that i overlooked but if anybody could point me in the right direction.

thanks

That sounds like a voltage autoswitching problem in the powerpack. Are you guys on 110v or 220v in Canada?
maybe you got a dud battery. drain it completely and then try charging it.
thanks guys for trying to help
It's on 110V here....I tried killing the battery completely and recharging it ...but now it's stuck at 0% and wont run now unless it's plugged in...kinda ruins the point of having a laptop.

the battery is probably DOA. does it feel warm from charging? does the laptop turn off instantly if you unplug the AC? does it charge if you turn the laptop off?

i don't know about HP, but all the dell's i've seen also have a button on the battery to check it's level... if yours has one, does it match the PC?
problem fixed...thanks bunder and sam....

still not sure what the problem was....throwing it has fixed it though...
I just have a way with electronics I guess

you can close the thread now sam...sorry for starting a new one for nothing.
