Need some help with this.
Hi all,
i have here an old Pentium III system, and it had win98se.
but when i installed winXP on it (lite version) it doest want to boot.
I Tried linux but the same story...
can someone tell me what happend to this pc, before i gonna smash it, please?

PC Spec.
Intel Pentium III 933/133MHZ
192MB RAM
20GB HDD
Not enough RAM.
Quote from robubba :Not enough RAM.

Got XP running fine on a 486 with 128MB ram so that's not it

Anyway, smash it, it's not worth the time you'd waste on diagnostics.
A clean installation of XP doesn't wanna boot? Never heard of that happening before. Install 98 again and see if it boots.
Damn now i have to take back my words bout ppl with low spec
hate when i am wrong but it cant be avoided from time to time i guess.

But back to your PC first question did you install XP on C drive?
Second did you make a clean install or just over it? if just over it then make clean.
Third use recovery console to try to repair windows "There is a lot of possibilities, first one is try to "chkdsk C:/R" in recovery console with windows cd in cdrom sometimes help, watch in web for "Fix boot" or "Fix MBR" and how to do this correctly, try to edit boot ini.
In any case for beginning i advice you to do first "CHKDSK C:/R" then Search in web for "Fix mbr" and "Fix Boot" with explanation how to open recovery console and do this.
Wish you luck
Same question btw, did u format it? Also, made a new partition for drive C (If its primary drive)
