It's stupid how the class the PL5 as D* as there are a lot of places in Plymouth the the post code PL5 that are not rough. I live in St Budeaux which is roughish down the bottom end, but I live in higher St Budeaux which isn't rough. Argh, annoying how insurance works lol.

Its because we are British You have to be atleast 25 in the UK to even think about an M3 and even then you will be paying over £1000. Like I said, I am paying £1600 but I am rather paying slightly more than friends with 1.1 Fiestas or sometimes, I am paying less.

Sure E36 is 1 the best older BMW's(saying as a mechanic) and its not fwd worth paying a lil extra. Btw mine is 3.2.just got a new chip, put it in few days ago.= OMG!!

RWD is where its at Nice to hear its the 3.2 version Its called the M3 Evolution over here, is it the same in the US? Still not as much power out the factory as what the Euro 3.2 kicks out, but its still ///M Power none-the less

Yeah i wish i had the euro evo,but unfortunetly is detuned for the *cough*americans its 240 hp from factory,same as the 3.0..but i have a 325 intake,+ the 3.5 inch euro HFM+chip,the rest comes later

If I cant find cheapish insurance for the cars I am looking at, I am going to have to go with a bike lol.

The cars I have put quotes in for are a Corsa C 1.2 SXI and a Pug 106 Quicksilver. Done 2 quotes on each, one standard and one modified as I heard Adrian Flux will give you cheaper premium if the car is modified, want to see if it's true lol.

I just checked the results I got when I did a comparison on a 316i using gocompare.com and the cheapest result I got was £2,070.67 TPFT

Do you reckon that would be worth it? I prefer the E30 over the E36, but I would say that they will both be the same price to insure as of the engine size.

Edit: Couldn't get a quote with Quinn on a E30 due to vehicle age lol.

Edit 2: £20 extra for a 316 Coupe. I'm starting to get happy that I have found a decent car for £300 more to insure the a 1.2 Corsa lol.

All depends on economics though, really. Jakg mentioned his job in another thread a while back, his part time job at a freakin mall store and it appeared to me that he makes more as a kid at a part time job than many of the people I work with at full time jobs trying to support a family and household. I could be wrong, but it sure appeared that way from the numbers he mentioned.

At $7 per hour over here as a youngster working part time, it's not that you simply can't afford a few of the insurance rates I've seen some of you mention, it's that you're not even going to make that much in a year.

Then again, you guys seem to be buying used cars for thousands less than we can. I believe I remember someone paying £2000 pounds for a Toyota MR2 and when I looked up that year around me, they were advertising for about $10-12,000. That's a significant difference.

Cars may be expensive over the pond but insurance seems to be cheaper.

I've got 9ish months to save up money for insurance, when I sell my bike, that will get me my car.

Where I work, it was advertised at £6 an hour, if I get that I will be happy as I think I will be doing a minimum of 16 hrs a week So I should have enough money saved for insurance.

Over here we have something called National Minimum Wage. 16yr olds is £3.53 an hr, £4,77 an hr for 18-21yr olds and £5.73 an hr for over 22s. So we can't get paid less then that, anything more is a bonus. Don't you have a similar system across the pond?

Yes we do,if your white u start with 7-8,if your black 5$ depends on job too,i started in a carwash 7+tip,now im just under 20/hour. Doing avarage 60-65 hours a week...

So, i'm going to buy new car, and i can't decide between some models.
The choice is: BMW E36 325/328 (but i think it will be too small, you know, parties and stuff, have to carry lots of things), BMW E34 535 (there's one good looking and cheap, with manual gearbox) E32 735 (but i think it will be too heavy for this engine and also there's one really good looking), next is: Audi 100 (C4) quattro with 2.8 engine (i'm not sure about this, because i'm huge rwd fan) and the last one: Volvo 940 with 2.3 (turbo) petrol engine.
What would you suggest? Thanks!

A 316 for under a grand is probarly gunna cost you more on the repair bill, as is any "decent" car you can get cheap.

You obviously have the money for the insurance so why don't you go for say a small 2k car and half the insurance of some BMW? Atleast with a newer car your not gunna worry about reliability, or the expensive road tax, or the tyres, or the fuel.....well, not as much anyhow.

So you think because a car is cheap and old it's going to be unreliable, what a load of bull lol. This is not always true.

A lot of E36 316i's are £500-£1,500.

I don't have the money for the insurance, will pay monthly so each months wages, most of it will go on insurance money. My 2008 Aprilia RS50 aka chicken chaser will buy my car as I am going to spend at the most, £1,000 on a car as that's what I should get for my RS.
