Nice, but how you changed language ?
Quote from TypeRacing :Nice, but how you changed language ?

It was by itself, when installing then it shows u the language it will use. My Firefox 3.0 was estonian too. And in addons, i can see "Eesti Keele Speller". Not sure, i think that u gotta download/find the speller from addons.
But the question is, is it faster than google chrome? That was the reason i stopped using FF before, because i thought i would try the new at the time chrome, just to see how it was, and it was so much quicker than FF that i never used it again.
Quote from danthebangerboy :But the question is, is it faster than google chrome?

Yes. For me anyway its faster than anything else.
its amazing how the much fastwe firefox now take a couple of very noticeable tenth to recover from being hidden behind another window as opposed to doing this instantly like any other browser out ther including ff 3.0

also you really do notice that javascript is now an amazing 2ms faster
uhg... i can't use my firefox theme now..
why does this still feel slow compared to safari?
Quote from dawesdust_12 :why does this still feel slow compared to safari?

Maybe it is faster, on the machine you use, or the sites you surf. But feelings can misslead, best way to compare is to take both browers to a brower benchmark
Because Safari is crap and doesn't supports extensions.

Quote from NotAnIllusion :Chrome could be slightly faster, then again.. http://dotnetperls.com/chrome-memory

Then again, does Chrome have addons like RSS ticker (why keep on going to websites when you can have your newspaper of choice and Autosport scrolling gently across your screen), Forecast Fox, AdBlock and FoxClocks?

EDIT : Just installed the new upgrades, not so happy that Tab Mix Plus hasn't been upgraded - how does one get in to the private browsing mode?
EDIT2 : That's because my settings leave it enabled all the time.
Just do Ctrl + Shift + P for "Porn Mode" (or private browsing).
I have it and I like it a lot, especially the Personas add-on they have for it. Easy themes for Firefox.
I've noticed the rendering is faster but my internets is too slow for me to see a big difference.

EDIT: Holy crap, after tweaking it it's quite noticeably faster!

At least on my singlecore laptop Opera 9.63 is vastly quicker than Firefox 3.5.
That's mostly to do with the way Opera responds to system events. It switches window focus or tabs immediately instead of having to think first like Firefox. It goes forwards and backwards also near-instantly while FF takes feeled ages to do the same task.
The addon-based SpeedDial for Firefox also completely kills the user experience. I don't want to wait for some 500ms to open a tab and see my preferred pages. Neither do I like it that Firefox takes a full tenth of a second to highlight the elements of the SpeedDial where Opera does the same task instantly.
Also, for some reason and contrary to what that study above claims, over here Opera appears to use less RAM than Firefox. Though that may be due to the setting I use in Opera whereas I used standard settings for Firefox.

On the bright side Firefox 3.5 doesn't feel quite as sluggish as older versions of Firefox did. So for people with the necessary system resources (e.g. dual core processor) it might be a good option due to the very good collection of addons.

Shadow: Safari does support extensions.

Once again it'd be nice if you knew what you were talking about before speaking.

ok, maybe it has ~100 useless extensions, but nothing useful.
firefox has the same. there's a few million egg timer extensions and other goofy shit that slows the browser down. im still waiting for you to give a reasonable reason to hate apple

AdBlock Plus doesn't slows browser down, it speeds it up
So one out of a million are useful? That really makes me think the extension facility is worthwhile and useful...
Actually, there are over 1000 useful extensions for Fx.

I must say its blistering fast i love this

First of all, I feel inclined to state that I have nothing against Safari or Apple for that matter.

That said, I still believe that Firefox is the best browser for me to use for one reason: It's customizability.

I will agree with you on saying that most of the extensions are complete crap and will help one out of every 5000 people. But, the great applications really make this browser so much easier to use.

These are the addons I am running right now:

AdBlock Plus (Downloaded just because I wanted to see what the craze was about. Now, I don't think I could live with all those ad's I saw before)

DownThemAll (I have tried all other browsers and have not found any browser/addon to browser to have such great features)

FireGestures (Complete copy of the Mouse Gestures from Opera. Some say this doesn't make it firefox's. My reply, "If it works, it works.)

Speed Dial (Another Opera copy. Something was said about slow time to load. I always just use Ctrl+number to pick the site I want. It loads the site without having to open speed dial)

StumbleUpon (Can't really describe it too well, but I really like it)

Yet Another Smooth Scrolling (Just makes Firefox a lot better for me to use. It feels like you are scrolling through music in the iTouch when you use the scroll wheel. It doesn't just stop automatically, but instead has like a small acceleration and decceleration.)

Basically, I think that Firefox does what it is designed to do. Be able to bend into whatever the user desires.

Thanks,
Shashdev
