A Scotland karting meet would be considered.......

The Extreme Karting in Falkirk is quite decent, they are running some competition atm too, your 3 best times from 3 differnt sessions get added together and if you are in the top 20 you get to compete in a heat, this happens at quite a few karting centers over Scotland, until eventually you get the final 20.

Usually it is a fixed price, and we all want the same amount of track time for our money, being a scot you should understand that So a knockout comp wouldn't be the best IMHO
24 hour enduro...
Well we did around 1.5 to 2 hours karting each on Saturday, and I think I can safely speak for everyone and say that was enough. Any more and I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all, but saying that, the last races were by far the best, as we all knew the tracks so well by then. I did the very last stint, I had to hold off 4 faster karts for at least 20 minutes, but it was an awesome race (cheers pswillies, krslim, tongey and boothy)
Quote from J@tko :Scotland?

Pah, easier to get to than you might think - jump on the train at Peterborough and then you're in Edinburgh within 4hrs.

Sorry, I dunno why I told about the knockout comp, it's just something thats happening here atm, thee is bigger events you can pay for at the one in Falkirk, last time we went they got differnt karts to the average joe, got to have a standing start instead of being released from the pits and it was like 3 or 4 15 minute races.

The only problem with this one is size, overtaking is quite hard, especcially with someone who isn't going much slower than you.
Got any links Ray? Worthwhile looking into
Quote from jasonmatthews :There is a discussion going on at our forum about looking into doing it in Scotland. I am more than happy to host one again at mine, but it is someone else's turn now

i dont mind organising one , but who fancies a 2000 km trip to spain ? , we got some mint tracks here though
I don't mind going to Scotland, or the South West, and if enough money is in the bank even Spain - i'll even race a single engine rather than a twin - but indoor is pushing it.

Indoor tracks are tight and twisty and leave you littered with bruises, you're constantly turning, you can never pass a competent competitor, and it doesn't 'feel' like real racing when you're doing it. It's like the toy version.

I'll goto Scotland, but I want the highland weather too
I'll be up for this one next year as well... I've never been to Scotland before so it'd be cool if it is held up there.... Only problem I may have with going to this one is Money as I've got a Stag do in Magaluf next June and will probably be totally skint for most of June and July
Quote from Becky Rose :

Agree entirely, and I'd be more than happy to make the journey into the highlands (though I'd love to see if the Manchester track Bob mentioned lives up to the three storey labyrinth that I have as an image in my head!)
Quote from jasonmatthews :Well I wouldn't want to travel all that way to do that circuit if I was being honest, which I am

That made me crease up with laughter! :huepfenic
Wow... now that's one serious looking track... I wouldn't mind having a blast round it
Just spoke to the Manchester Centre, they are very accomodating. They are willing to tailor make an event for us, but the gold package sounds pretty good. It is £1950 for a 3 1/4 hour event for 30 drivers. Included in the price is coffee, tea and biscuits on arrival, BBQ and MOET champagne for the winners. This works out at £65 each, which isn't bad at all. The centre are sending me details via email and a brochure.

We need to get this kind of information for each of the centres we are considering, so if anyone wants to speak to the kart centres in scotland that sound good aswell, then we could run a poll maybe when we have the options.
Jesus you're on the ball for this
Why do I have my suspicions that Jason will be organising the next event?

That track does look really intresting with 3 levels!
No way!!

I just want to help us get started is all
Hi Jason,

Following our conversation, please find below details of the private Grand Prix and Endurance events that we offer on our Main Arena. For your records I have also attached prices for the shared events we offer on our Main Arena and the private hire events we offer on our Standard Circuit.

Speedkarting Warrington specialises in race events for adults over the age of 18.

All race events must be booked in advance.
We apologise in advance for the volume of information: with 2 circuits to choose from, there really are lots of options for you to consider.

Please do not hesitate to contact our booking office for any further assistance (open Monday – Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm on 01925-415114).

However we do hope the following will help as a starting point…

MAIN ARENA

The largest, longest running, purpose built indoor karting circuit in the UK. And as of September 2006 now the only 3 level indoor circuit, incorporating the longest Monaco-style tunnel, in the UK.

The Main Arena building is approximately 90,000 sq ft, the circuit itself being 1000m in length and approximately 9m in width. Please see our web site www.speedkarting.co.uk for a view of the Main Arena.

On this circuit we offer private events (Exclusive) 7 days / 7 nights per week, subject to availability and booking restrictions.

We can also accommodate shared events (Opens) on Saturday or Sunday afternoons or evenings; particularly in mind for groups below 20 / individuals.

Private hire options

1) Exclusive Grand Prix (Main Arena)
A Grand Prix is an individual driver competition where people compete over a number of heats / races to accumulate as many points as possible with their sights set on qualifying for the overall Grand Prix Final. This event is not a knock out competition; all drivers will receive 5 races each (subject to punctuality of arrival, standard of driving, etc.).

Each race will have 7 / 8 drivers participating with the Grand Prix Final having 8 / 10 drivers.

The event also includes tuition, practice, equipment hire, computerised timing, trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and a bottle of ‘Chateau Mersey’ for the winner!

For many, many years the minimum weekday evening booking was an event lasting 3.5 hours costing £1800 inc. vat. This event is still available for larger groups of up to 40 drivers but due to demand we have recently introduced much smaller private hire events than ever before, reducing the private hire cost by up to 50% for parties of up to 20 drivers!!

Your private hire Grand Prix choices now being:

i)A Grand Prix lasting approximately 2 hours costing £900 inc. VAT; this GP allows you to bring up to 20 drivers
New for 2009: Additional drivers = we can now accommodate up to 4 additional drivers at £45 inc. vat each = maximum event of 24 drivers.

ii)A Grand Prix lasting approximately 2&3/4 hours costing £1350 inc. VAT; this GP allows you to bring up to 30 drivers
New for 2009: Additional drivers = we can now accommodate up to 2 additional drivers at £45 inc. vat each = maximum event of 32 drivers.

iii)A Grand Prix lasting approximately 3&1/2 hours costing £1800 inc. VAT; this GP allows you to bring up to 40 drivers
New for 2009: Additional drivers = above 40, each additional driver will be charged at £45 inc. vat. No maximum limit to additional drivers.
NB: we do however need exact numbers on booking to allocate the correct time for the completion of your event.

The circuit is available to book 7 days / 7 nights per week privately (subject to availability).

However to be able to accommodate these new smaller events on weekday evenings we do have certain start times at which we offer certain sizes of event: please contact our office for assistance (June ’09).

2) Exclusive Endurance (Main Arena)
A private hire team event; the team who complete the most laps around the circuit within the allocated racing time are the winners! This format is all about team tactics!!

The event includes tuition, practice, equipment hire, computerised timing, and trophies for all team members of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams with one bottle of ‘Chateau Mersey’ for the winning team!

The minimum option for an Endurance on this circuit is £1800 inc. VAT for 6 karts on the circuit with a 2-hour race plus practice and tuition. This event is for an unlimited number of drivers (within reason) and would last approx 3&1/2 hours in total.

You can increase the number of karts / teams for your event; if required this would be at a cost of £250.00 inc. VAT per kart / team.

Additional racing time is available if required; please contact our booking office for details.

We would accommodate an Endurance event 7 days / 7 nights per week = start times are flexible, subject to availability.

3) Gold Card Exclusive Grand Prix
Unique to the Main Arena, this is an ‘all inclusive’ package providing lots of extras including additional races for each driver, catering with beverages, etc.

Please contact our office for full details / minimum numbers / cost / availability / etc.

CATERING

Main Arena

On all Main Arena race events, the circuit side café will be open for guests to purchase refreshments, as they require.

Alternatively catering can be pre-ordered, served on commencement of racing to be enjoyed in between races. Menus are available if required.

NB – due to customer feedback we would not recommend pre-booked catering on events of less than 30 drivers. Please call to discuss this in detail / your requirements.

BOOKING PROCEDURE

To make a booking please contact our booking office on 01925-415114 during office hours: Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm.

To save time on arrival for your event, we recommend that you pay in full when you book in.

However you can, if you wish, pay 50% of the cost of a private hire event as a deposit. The outstanding balance is then payable on event arrival at latest (including catering, if required).

We also require a fully completed booking form, hard copy.

I do hope this helps! Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further assistance. I will send a copy of our brochure to you in tonight’s first

Thanks again,
Claire

To participate in a race event the minimum age is 18 years

Wow Jason. You really are getting stuck into this. I have to say tho, If we are going to this centre, we must get the 3 level karting track. That looks so challenging its unreal!
Cheers for getting the details Jason. Have you found out what the maximum number of karts on track at once is? I agree that this track should make the shortlist for next year's event.
