I can't believe some of you guys think that was a boring race... If you think there are thousands of overtakes in 1 race then you're watching the wrong sport, Formula 1 has never been like that. You can interesting races you get less-interesting races, but at least with modern F1, the pitstops mean a boring race is transformed into a less than boring race.
Oh come on, at least i can watch Monaco without blinking even if there is no overtaking, because the scenery is stunning, they are flying by those barriers and walls within milimeters, there are no one kilometer run-off-hilke areas, and the scenery, oh my god, construction sites and factories ffs.. This track needs to go.
I'm glad for Baricello, i love it when a genuenly (sp) nice guy wins..
There was a puncture, someones brakes exploded, there was engine blowups, there was exiting moments at all the pit stops. And you say it was boring? Maybe you ask too much of F1.
Great race, loved watching it, and loved the outcome. My first race with the iPhone F1 app, and it was brilliant. Could see who was quick (the Brawns), who was slower, and where people would filter out into traffic/gaps...
Was a good race though - plenty of excitement to keep me happy, except for a small lull after the second stops.
Hamilton didn't have the pace to win regardless of the pitstop error. Had they not fecked up, he might have got out in front, but Rubens would have been all over him for the last 15 laps.
Webber did a great job (assisted, of course, by his slipstream) keeping Button behind him, but the Red Bull was clearly no match for a Brawn in clear air. Button would have been in the top 4 had it not been for his hesitation in Turn 1 when Vettel squeezed him (legitimately I might add).
Race was dull once again. I just don't like this track at all. Why do they keep building tracks where people can not or hardly at all pass ? Quit those new idiot rules for "more fun into F1" and just get tracks where people not named Hamilton (or similair big talented racers) can pass.
Aye, pit stops alone don't make a race interesting. It's necessary also to believe the cars can pass each other even if the only get close to it.
2 years on and still not a single memorable moment from Valencia on the fast side of the pit wall, and some dumb bozzo just signed them up for another five years.
was down the pub as the racing was starting so was sort of half-heartedly watching it, glad I didn't bother sitting at home watching the whole thing because from what I saw it looked like a mind-numbingly boring race with no action whatsoever, on a track that looks like Monaco's watered down sterile brother with no atmosphere at all.
Yeah I thought the track was a bit dull, then again I prefer proper tracks to street circuits.
Wasn't pleased with the result, I was hoping Sebastian Vettel would be on the Podium but near the end of the race I was hoping Lewis Hamilton would win, most likely the delayed pit stop what blew it for him.
Button certainly can't blame the car or the team anymore.
And its good to see that Rubens is not all mouth and no trousers, I get the feeling Brawn will take the constructor's cup, but Button wont take the driver's, he will only have himself to blame though as Rubens showed that the Brawn can still be very much on the pace.
Regarding Red Bull, as we know Spa is known for usually being wet, which going by past form will Benefit the Bulls. Italy can be very varied but may be wet as well as Japan, Abu Dhabi and Singapore being reliably warmer but Singapore alsways has a chance of rain and in that part of the world it never rains, it pours.
Red Bull will obviously probrably get quite a late season run if the conditions that are ideal for their car are in place over the next few GPs, and with Summer starting to draw to a close I think the liklehood of this happening is increasing all the time, combined with Button's current form, I think Red Bull have quite a significant chance of snatching a championship for one of their drivers or even a constructors championship out from under Brawn and Button's noses.
Rubens may become more of an important influence on the championships in the next few races, but as we've seen with Webber, just because a driver takes one race win dosen't always mean they are on the road to dominance.
Brawn are still definately on a level where they can challenge Red Bull, its up to their drivers. Given that the championship is not very close run at the moment relative to 07 and 08, I think the top teams are probrably starting to turn their attention more towards next year's cars rather than developing this year's, especially Brawn, who look like they may be a bit strapped for cash after Branson cut them loose.
Whatever the heck has happened to Button anyway? Perhaps he grew complacent and got caught out.
He stopped feeling like an underdog/pretender and felt the pressure to win with a winning car instead. Certainly his first time in that situation, and it's not a shock to me that Rubens can handle that expectation a bit better at this stage in the season.
Perhaps Jenson will fight back once the gap has closed, but I too am not convinced that he will hold on till the end. There will be no easy points for his pursuers with the McLarens and Ferraris in better form though.
Kimi pushed Hamilton over to the outside, and Hamilton still yeilded to Räikkönen overtook him, and got penalized. It was a bullshit call by the FIA, and everybody knows it.
I don't know it. He cut the chicane and maintained an advantage that led to an overtake. But it's in the past now, so who cares.
Button gained an advantage and did something about it eventually - presumably once the team was able to review it. Lots of drivers have given places back, either at the teams request or of their own volition.
Yes, and I think this way was good for the sport, usually the marshals are too quick to wave the black flag. (I remember it as it took _along_ time, maybe they even asked race control)
Yes it's argueable that Hamilton yeild wasn't full but Kimi forced Hamilton off the track in the first place, if the white lines were brick walls, Kimi would of been the one penalized.
