Low Fps!!
Have just built a new PC (specs are below) and have installed ATI catalyst 6.4 and the highest FPS that I can get, is with the view from outside of the car at around 75fps. Considering the specs of the PC this should be reaching near enough double this. All the settings withing LFS are set correctly, e.g. the FPS is not limited and all the graphics settings are on highest, admittedly, but the GPU should handle this without a doubt as should the PCU.

Any ideas if it is this version of ATI Catalyst that, again, is not very well suited with LFS and that this is what is limiting the FPS within LFS?

Any help appreciated.

PC Specs;
Hiper HPU-4K580 Type R 580W Modular
HIS Excalibur ATI X1900 XT 512mb
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ with Thermalright SI-120.
DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D
G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 2x1GB *ONLY RUNNING 1GB*
2x Viewsonic VE710b 17" LCD Monitors
2x samsung spinpoints in RAID 0 and it's DDR400 @ 3-4-4-8
I'm using a 7900gtx, which will perform similarly to that x1900xt, and it gets 146fps most of the time, just as a reference.
Even with 256mb ram in single channel it still fights above 100fps, thrashing the hard disk, so the RAM shouldn't be a problem either.
Maybe try overclocking CPU to see if it makes any difference, altho a 2Ghz A64 shouldn't limit it to 75fps with one car. Plus if it's view dependant, doesn't that imply grahpics issue?

What are your FPS readings at lower resolutions?
DO NOT overclock your CPU or any other hardware part for that matter. From our experience it can cause many problems with LFS.
What Hard Drive are you using?

What is you memory clock speed (What speed does the computer report it as when it boots up)

yeah now this is the REALLY weird thing, which I forgot to add...
If the graphics settings are on the lowest res possible, then the fps is still the same!! Makes no difference at all!!

I'm running 2x samsung spinpoints in RAID 0 and it's DDR400 @ 3-4-4-8. I mean, I guess it could go to DDR500 but, I mean, they're good discs, so should'nt really need that....

OK I'll keep that in mind

Hi,

Try to set V-sync in drivers and in LFS of OFF.The please post if you get still same frame rate.

And I already posted to you in other thread(you should know when you posted this as well :-) ).
I consider you mean the outside view as TV view. Then such a "low" FPS is pretty normall.LFS doesnt use 2 cores currently so your CPU has same power as my A64 3200+ and I get similar FPS in Tv view.Sometimes maybe more.

I still think you have V-sync set as ON which might be the issue on your side.
