Right. I've got a minor problem with winamp and xvid files: They don't work. I first installed xvid codec -didn't work. Then ffdshow -still doesn't work.

Windows media player works fine (and vlc. Obviously). I'd just rather use winamp because you can easily jump 5 seconds forward in a video by pressing left/right arrows, a feature I haven't found in any other player.

And btw, after some googling I found some shit I didn't understand about the in_dshow -plugin configuration in winamp but funnily enough I've got no such thing listed under plugins.

Any help?

VLC Hotkeys:
shift+left/right arrow = 3 seconds
alt+left/right arrow = 10 seconds
control+left/right arrow = 60 seconds

ah never knew u could do shorter jumps...though i only use the jumping feature when skipping commercials on recorded movies/shows, so it doesnt matter

Great, I didn't know that. This renders Winamp completely useless.

Using Winamp to play video files is like using Windows Media Player to play music files

You can also use GOM Player, which has a more conventional left arrow/right arrow skipping mechanism, and built-in codecs.
