Has anyone thought of a very short racing league for teams?

I was thinking that 4 car races would be a good idea, with teams of 4 drivers (plus one or two reserves), using a format such as this.

Also, teams would have home tracks. There would be 3-5 teams in each group, and in most groups each team plays the other teams once at home and once on the road (although it could be from BL GP to BL RX).

Races would be 3 minutes ish long, and a race would be every 5 minutes (so it will be quite intense). So most meetings would be half an hour long or so.

Points could be like speedway. I would like to run a comp like this myself, but my system couldn't really be used as a server, and I don't want to steal one of my school's (j/k). Any thoughts and post em here.

Thanks. As for the cars, I'm torn between TBO and FXO GTR. TBOs would be able to RallyX of course.

I would set it up and act as league commisioner/president if a server or two could be found If the teams are willing to take down their servers/use a spare for 45 minutes once a week and provide a ref actually at the server it would be doable. My thoughts is to use servers of a team not playing in that match and a ref from that team for neutrality.

Any more thoughts?

I had thought about this idea before, would be willing to help a bit and i'll link this thread on our team forums

I think I have a great idea here, I'd just like a little more comment

Most LFS-racers will look to league racing if they want to have longer races. However, if you get it going and start promoting it, I'm sure you'll be able to get enough people interested, given the current size of active LFS races and the amount of teams. There must be more people who like this idea.

Does anyone have a spare server that could be borrowed once a week? I sadly can't use my PC as a server, the lag would make it descend in to farce .

• Give teams 5 points down after 4 of 6 heats the option to force the other team their sets OR change their driving order.
  
• Instead of each car in the race having an individual number (like most racing series), squad numbers (as in football) instead. Just make sure that the skins are easily distinguishable. After all, only two teams will be on track at a time.
  
• Half time breaks: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, more or none (my favourite). Remember it will be 1-2 lap races every 5 minutes.
  

Each team will need 5 varients of one skin (car numbers 01,02,03,04 and 05). 01-04 will be those numbers in the meeting format, and 05 will be the reserve/substitute. The numbers should be on the bonnet, and BIG. FXO GTR :-)

Teams will be put in groups of 4 (1 home and one away) or 6 (1 against each team, and one additional match.

Then the 3 teams with the best records go through to the semi-final and final

In a bit this will need it's own subsection like some other leagues

It's also my plan to have an all-star race at the end of the season. However drivers who are within 107% of the WR in the FXR in 2 of the tracks that will be used may sign up and qualify for the all-star semi (if they are NOT in a team for the regular season), and, if they get in the top 8, get in to the all* race .
