The online racing simulator
scratches and such confirmed on road cars is just fine :/ we shouldn't be crashing anyways...
All cars will have mechanical damage, and if that's done right, then i don't care about cosmetic damage.. i want a "50mph into a wall and your car is totalled" kinda damage.. and it will be awesome. Offline it doesn't matter, offline i'm driving (hotlaping) on my own, but for online races it's important to have mechanical damage and good collision physics.
wow....
Is it me, or does it look like a door panel behind both these cars?

Im pretty sure the doors were one of the few things which absolutely must stay on the car, while other panels werent such a big deal. If thats the case, i cant think what it would be.

Personally, im happy just to see some form of damage has taken place, and for the car to reflect that. I dont need full deformation, panels everywhere, shards of carbon all over the track. Their methods of mechanical damage interest me more (i personally love the loss of gears, simple but a PITA) as thats far more punishing/deserving than a car with a few scuffs on it. I'll take visual damage as a bonus though.

hmm, looking at the Ford, it certainly looks like the driver side door is missing, surely PD knew this when releasing the pics.
they have a rollcage, so problem solved XD

Those are the doors alright.. but i'm not folowing you, are you saying that doors should never fall off from WRC car?

Anyway, check out the new confirmed features:

• European/USA release still unknown
• damage will be improved, but don't expect "total loss crashes", GT isn't about that (even though they can already do it)
day/night cycle is in
rain is in
• a very precise G-force meter is in (see jvn.com video)
tire wear & tire temperature are in
• no plans for motion controller support
• they are working on something with the PlayStation Eye, can't go into detail yet

Nice feature!

But seriously, the rest sounds good.

Yeah, im certain that only a couple of weeks back they were credited with saying that there are certain things that manufacturers simply wont allow, there are limits to how far they can go. For some reason, and maybe i got the wrong impression, they specificly used the doors as an example. They'd mentioned race cars having a roll cage, but i thought they'd said they cant lose doors, maybe i mis-read/heard the comment.

Also, i have to correct your features list.
To my knowledge, the comment related to day/night is that they COULD do it, but Kaz made this pathetic comment which seemed to imply they'd only implement it if it was worth it or not, which for someone of his intelligence and passion for motorsports, should be pretty obvious that its a feature that would be worth implementing... thought to be fair its not essential, this is more about extending realism.

Weather and Day/Night Cycles
Yamauchi: “We can implement it, but we don’t know whether we will put it in or not. Even for damage, it only took us two months to get it where we’re at, and if we really wanted to, we could enter time changes and stuff like that, but it really depends on how it will affect the quality of the game.” via IGN

I hadnt realised it was related to weather too, there cant be a reason against adding it in terms of realism and influence it could have on the games playability etc. However, i guess thats not what he's saying, adding it could deteriorate the quality of the game by a performance drop, which is a fair comment.
I sure hope they can include it, but if they cant due to performance issues, then i could live with that, and would hope for improvements to include it in GT6 one day.
Weather might cause performance issues, but I don't see why it should - plenty of games have similar scope and manage it. GTA4 had a decent cycle of conditions, and that was a while back now.

But time of day transitions won't have any effect on performance - they're already using realtime lighting, so moving that light source around isn't going to add or remove anything. Obviously they'd need to also have a skybox transition, but that's just a texture so it shouldn't cause any problems.
Although I guess with a changing ToD, they'd need to include dynamic lights on the cars and around the tracks too, which is where the real performance hit would come into play. That graphic quality, crazy amounts of shaders on each car PLUS light sources flying around, casting shadows all over the place? Could be nasty.

I hope they can implement it though, because it would be nice to have a range of experiences available for each track.
Oh I don't need a day and night cycle per se, but it would be nice if i could choose the time of the day, you know, or atleast something like in LFS, "clear, cloudy, dusk..". Nurburgring isn't always shiny like this..

the best part of grand turismo is the large selection of tracks and such... but with one vital problem...

they will have weather ( important feature... the most important imho ) but the physics will be like drifting a nissan micra as always.

more cars and tracks + better online play ( people who can actually drive without wreaking - sorry but im just too good at a game for once and the buzz is ruined by newfags )

gta4 crawls at 30fps at best. Lots of stuttering etc.

GT5 is sweet 60fps 1080p (well, upscaled but still very nice).

the physics are allright

So, which F1 (or other FIA) World Championship is yours that you can actually criticize the physics with any basis in fact?

Right, I forgot. You're just an idiot that loves to stir up shit with your non-existent logic and arguments with holes larger than a gaping pornstar.

silly kaz...
I can't wait for Thursday. I've had my preorder for GT:PSP for like 2 months waiting in my car.

EDIT: That'd be a pretty sick motion simulator when playing a race sim
i like how the psp has the inside view too.
Quote from Mattesa :At 2:03 the G25 turns more than the virtual wheel. Probably just a settings issue, and if not they better fix it.

its just that the animation doesnt turn as much. Very few games have animated 900 degree steering. NFS Shift has even less steering. Forza 3 has very little as well as grid and dirt.
shit is this for real... 800 cars... 35 tracks... will it have the modding and all too ?
