i saw the other day that lotus announced that they have signed an experienced driver but won't release who yet as they'd like to anounce both drivers together. given that some of their senior personal are big trulli fans it looks like a safe bet it's him
It won't change much. The sale is only for a minority stake, and Williams and Head will still be the ones in control.
Quote from aroX123 :What I personally would like for 2010 is a figth for the world title that contains more than 2 people.
And I would like it to be the same as in 2009, so close laptimes and such.
0,2 of a sec could get you up 5 places, qualifyings where so awsome, I hope so too for 2010.
I guess every year things change, but lets hope they change in a positive way

for the past decade(s), it was usually only just two (if there're more than one) fighting for the title...
and as far as I can remember, the only exception to this was 2007 I guess, when it was Lewis and Alonso fighting and then Kimi suddenly came from no where and steal it off them...

so yeah it's a good wish~ but I doubt it'll happen~

Q&A with Nico Rosberg
If the driver in the other car is Michael Schumacher, are you confident that you can take him on and beat him?
Nico Rosberg: I don't want to comment on that, sorry.

Haug refuses to rule out Schumacher

Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug fuelled speculation about Michael Schumacher's rumoured return to Formula 1, refusing to categorically deny the German could drive for the team.
Team boss Ross Brawn told German newspaper Bild over the weekend that rumours of a possible return by the seven-time champion were a "fantasy of the media".
"Michael would have come back temporarily for Ferrari but he doesn't want to begin a new career," Brawn added.
"I think that we have to live with these speculations," said Haug during a press conference. "What Ross pointed out, I think we have to respect that. I fully understand that these speculations are ongoing as long as we don't announce who is driving the other car but that's what we have to live with."
When asked to categorically deny Schumacher could drive the car, Haug added: "When will you ever say categorically anything in F1? Ross made it quite clear and I really have nothing to add."
Mercedes GP chief executive Nick Fry was also unwilling to discuss the Schumacher rumours.
"I've got nothing to add to that," he said. "We are here today to talk about Nico Rosberg and we should stick with that subject. Ross has answered the question extremely well."
Fry said Mercedes was in no great hurry to finalise who would partner Rosberg in its 2010 line-up, but that the decision was likely within the next month.
"It obviously would have been ideal to announce them together but that's impossible," he said.
"We don't have huge time pressure at the moment, but once one goes beyond Christmas and into the new year it becomes slightly more difficult with seat fits in time for the engineers to talk to the driver. I would hope on the other driver to do it before Christmas purely for logistical reasons."

Lets pray for 7-time world champion to join
I hope he doesn't return. Retired drivers should stay... retired.

Get someone new, like Kobayashi. I'd love to see Rosberg paired up with another Japanese. Nakajima has shown himself to be of lower quality, so chuck Kamikaze into the mix!
I only just found out barrichello is now driving for williams. What a waste of a seat. He should have been out of F1 years ago.
Quote from sil3ntwar :He should have been out of F1 years ago.

Really?
Why is that? I think he is doing well even though he have been in for 15 (16?) years.
Quote from aroX123 :Lets pray for 7-time world champion to join

to sum the two quotes together:

Haug: "Ross made it quite clear and I really have nothing to add."
Brawn: rumours of a possible return by the seven-time champion were a "fantasy of the media".

so basically don't dream too much after only reading the title~
Renault boss Ghosn has given some interesting comments to Forbes magazine:

Quote :Finally for F1 fans, how important is F1 still for Renault?

F1 is one of the most-seen spectacles in the world. It is facing some challenges: Challenges on how fair it is and how do you marry F1 with the environmental concerns. Can you bring zero emission through technology? So there are lots of questions about F1 and...

Can I say that F1 is not going to be a core part…you don't think it is going to be important for Renault?

I don't think it is going to be very important for anybody, if it doesn't answer some of the concerns that surround F1. I notice that in the last year, three car manufacturers have bowed out of F1. Three in one year! That means there are a lot of questions that we need to resolve.

If I had to bet I'd bet it's Kubica
in the second Mercedes..
F1 doesn't need car manufacturers, Honda held back a potential championship winning car with bad management and a terrible engine, the moment they put a better engine in the car and gave Ross Brawn control they won both bloody titles. I won't be upset or worried if Renault quit F1, if they do hopefully Kubica will join Mercedes and show BMW how badly they got it wrong.
To those that can't be bothered to click on unexplained links, it's an article about Volkswagen considering entering F1 as an engine supplier. but no earlier than 2012. But nothing is confirmed, so it's little more than a rumour at the moment.
Great news, updated the first post with the comfirm of force india and possible sauber

2012? I don't get it. Current engine freeze ends in 2012 unless they overrule it. And isn't 2012 quite soon...

Remember when Max Mosley hinted at this "world enginge" idea earlier this year. It's obvious VW has been "lobbying" this idea...

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com ... kys-world-engine-concept/

I don't like the idea of seeing (or hearing) 4-cyl turbos in every series and class but this is a perfect scenario for manufacturers. Same base engine opens doors for many series. Less money spent.
They can have a word engine, so long as its a V12.
Montreals officially back!!!
Hurrah. I like the Canadian GP, glad it's back.
