I have been looking into it & have found it could run into thousands once i have added all the parts i will need.
Anyone have experience of building a kit car? (i wont need to sva it for competition use, trackdays may be a different matter)

Should i go for it or not? It is a locost chassis not a Westfield or Caterham.
I have been dreaming of one ever since I saw one in real life. The thing to me is just absolute beast like

Building it yourself sounds like even more fun, TG guys did it not long ago.
if you can afford it ide say do it tbh lol, it would be great fun and quite interesting to build it maybe as close to lfs spec as you can

A racing car is born would probably be interesting viewing for you. It's based around a Westfield, but there will probably be quite a lot of good advice in there.
Whatever you do, make sure you lock up the diff for the ultimate real-life LFS experience. Put in a clutch made out of margarine too.

Did you buy it then?
Why not a LX6

I'll raise you two cylinders.

If you know what you're doing, then why not?
Man, my dream is to build one of those with an all aluminum small displacement V8

I always wanted to have a Lotus 7 replica... but I'm not sure if I'd try to build one. It would be a good way to learn about how every facet of a car works, though.

That will be one mahousive Lotus Super7.

Because i value my life! . Seriously tho my first attempt @ a self built car where i attached the calipers & plumbed in the brakes.
I'd rather have less power to start with, get the car properly setup so it stops & corners (well), then i will increase the size/output of the engine.
I'd say go for it. Friend of mine has a Super 7, only 130bhp, but ohmygod its fast.

As long it doesn't mess up my power to weight ratio, yes, that's what I mean.
ive just noticed something about the LX4 engine specs.

Engine:
1.3 litre inline 4
Power:
105 kW (140bhp) @ 8212 rpm
Torque:
131 Nm (97 lbft) @ 6917 rpm

A 1.3 car engine with 140bhp?? Even a well tuned Suzuki swift engine would struggle to achieve 140bhp.

Why not? My car has a 2.0 engine and 240hp.

In the german hillclimb championship a 1.3 litre 16v inline 4 with less than 140 hp is regarded as underpowered.

They achieve up to 200 hp from an 1.3 carburetor engine.

Individual throttle bodies on each cylinder can make wonders to your power output

There's a Fiat 500 GT racer that has 360 HP out of it's 1.4. It's turboed, but I bet if you took the turbo off it'd still be over 200.

People dont tend to put specialist engines in these things, they are almost always common easily available engines.

Suzuki GSX1300R engine pulls out 194bhp according to wikipedia (for second generation, first generation hayabusa's engine pulls out 155-175bhp).
