I hope this is the right place to post it. Here's the thing.
I'm always running 60 FPS. No matter Singleplayer or Multiplayer...
I'm running on full AA and AF, turning it off don't help...
Specs:
MB: GIGABYTE GA-M61PME-S2
OS: XP SP3
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ ~2.6GHz
RAM: I think it's KINGSTONE 2GB 667MHz
GPU: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 4650 512MB

Go to options\misc and look for "Limit frame rate in game: Yes/No"

Check vsync. If it's on and your system is fast enough, your framerate will match your monitor's refresh rate, displaying one full frame on every refresh cycle.

If vsync is off, your framerate can be higher, but it may result in portions of multiple frames displayed in a single refresh cycle.

I find the latter preferable despite the tendency for the image to tear if the images displayed in a single refresh cycle differ significantly.

You don't need over 60 fps. It's waste of power.

Not in my experience. Back when I had a high quality CRT, I could tell the difference between 60 fps and 100 fps.

Likewise, I could tell the difference between 60Hz and 85Hz refresh rate.

I have frame limit to 100. I'll try Vsync.

EDIT: removed limit, and turned off Vsync... Now it varies from 50 to 150. Is that normal? Anyway, thanks.

Yeah, if you got a slow PC, it will run fast when there's not much going on in the game, like only one car. And when there are several cars, and objects etc, it will run slower.

It's not so slow... It should run LFS at 100FPS+.
My fried has same specs, except GPU. He has NVidia GeForce 9600GT 512MB, and he's running Call Of Duty Modern Warfare on 250FPS locked, everything maxed.

LFS is not CoD:MW. LFS relies mostly on the CPU. You could have a GF 6800GT and get the same framerate in LFS as you do now.

Yea i get anywhere from 300-400 with just me or me and another car, but i only get 150-250 when theres several cars racing or when there really close to me/ around me.

If he has 60 fps locked then it's obviously VSync that syncs FPS to his monitor vertical refresh rate.

Default FPS limiter is 100 not 60.

I think we already established that about vsync.

I was referring to the apparent difference in smoothness between 100 fps and 60 fps as actual framerates, not framerate caps, specifically on a high-quality, high-refresh rate CRT with vsync off.

Even on a 60Hz LCD, vsync makes the motion noticeably choppy for me, so I leave it off.
