Indeed they do. Much more important is the heating of the internal air thanks to the hot rim.

Thats what i will always love about LFS , you still get shot into space for hitting a barrier yet we want the air inside the tyres simulated

LFS isn't about running into barriers. :P Actually, it is something I try to avoid, staying on the track without collecting damage.
When should we expect the release of the new physics roughly?... This year, Next or beyond?... I know its done when its done but there must be some idea...

That is true but sometimes helpful people escort onto the barriers thus creating moonshots ..
nasa should contact the devs to try to get the secret formulas and equations responsible to create those barriers...do you know how much money they would save going to the moon? even mars?

Especially If they think heating tires will give less grip Can't wait for that, all those :riceboy: heating up their tires, going full speed to first corner, steer in and end up with lot's of understeer into the first barrier they meet

i never heat up tires,and still go full speed in a turn no problem. but if you guys think,because a new'er' tyre physics drifting will like die out, ur very wrong.
Of course they won't die out, we'll just have a bunch of threads popping up saying "OMG Scavier ruined drifting" as users won't be able to cope with the new physics (although they might not change all that much in the end).

But why? thats what i dont understand. what will be that dramatic change that ppl wont be able to drift? as far as i know,we are going a step ot two closer to real life tyre physics.---> cars have no problem drifting irl arent they ?
Tire will have more grip, hence require more skill to drift from entry to exit, compared to the current soap tire model which is like drifting on snow once your tires are hot. That's why there are lots of foolish people "pre-heating" their tires against pit walls because they do not have the skill to properly drift cold (realistic) tires.
Actually, with the current tyre model, your tires heat up while drifting very fast, like in 2 laps... I'm used to drift until they pop... (and that means soapy) It's very annoying to pit after 1-2 laps.
To be honest, I wouldn't really mind having to learn how to drift again. It's fun trying out something new again, and that's what games are about right? Having fun.
As long as it becomes more realistic, good news for me.

I'm already fed up with the soap tyres. I usually reset the car every one lap or two to make the rear tyres cool again when I practise drifting.
I'm not going to have problems with new physics ofcourse. I want it all as realistic as possible so let the new physics come! It's just that if the new tire model is done right, pre-heating your tires would give you even more grip and that most drifters will then crash into the first barrier they'll meet when initiating a drift

And yet quite accurate. I used to drift a lot in real life on real tracks (mostly Silverstone) and two full laps of Silverstone on full throttle, sideways, will most definitely pop your tyres...
- Agreed... What's the point of drifting good in Kart Rider, or Mario Kart? It would actually be nice to be drifting as one would IRL. Plz!!! NEW PHYSICS!!!!!!

That's interesting to read. I always thought it was common sense here to know that the tyre heating model is pretty wrong. I guess the biggest problem is that you pit out with tyres 10°C below optimum temperature already.
It's not about whether the tyres should pop quickly or not, it's about grip. When you heat up tyres 30'C above optimum temp irl you do lose some grip but your high-performance tyres won't transform into soap.

Uhm, accurate? You're not required to pit every 1-2 laps in LFS because of the tire wear (except with FZ5) but because the tire grip is non-existant if you want fast entry speeds with high angles.

I do agree that the tire wear is pretty spot on with the FZ5, but you can drift waaaay too long with the GTT on current tire physics.
Probably because popping is simulated when a tyre point reach ca. 200 C, and the tyres become soapy way before this point. I certainly don't know any tyres that are heated to 200 C, they stay at a lower temperature and pop because of wear, not temperature (mostly).
Hmm, you might be right. FZ5 might simply be heating the tires up to 200c in couple of laps instead of actually wearing them out, which causes a pop.
