Quote from rockclan :Don't sell yourselves Britain! At least not in order to get some other things done.

Britain is full of lovely people, which we would not want to lose!

We've already sold ourselfs, did that when we voted that posh twat into power.
Quote from S14 DRIFT :We've already sold ourselfs, did that when we voted that posh twat into power.

Technically, no we didnt !
Amazing how this is going - one minute it's a crazy conspiricy theory, the next it's anounced by the Fuhrer of the EU.

Well, it's now impossible to sell britain as you no longer exist. What's actually being sold are some unimportant EU assets and that has nothing to do with any of you.

Still, at least you'll get to be ruled by an all-knowing beaurocracy who know far better what you need than you do.

"Remember, the European Commission is the institution in which its employees are trained never to mention their own home countries if the word can possible be avoided -- British eurocrats are trained not to say Britain but to say only 'the country I know best.' This is why the EU has rigged up the idea of dividing Europe into 'regions' which ignore, indeed, erase, national boundaries. This is why, under law, we are all called 'citizens of the EU' now. It's not just a gesture, it's a fact, and cynical creatures such as Van Rompuy means we should all become 'citizens of the EU' in every sense.

WE can't say we weren't warned. The day after Van Rompuy was appointed, Paul Belien, a Flemish historian and lawyer, warned readers of the Mail that the newly powerful president of the council was a man 'devoid of patriotism and contemptuous of democracy.'

"The age of the nation state is over and the idea that countries can stand alone is an ‘illusion’ and a ‘lie’, the EU president believes.
In one of the most open proclamations of the goal of a European superstate since the heyday of Jacques Delors, Herman Van Rompuy went on to denounce Eurosceptism as the greatest threat to peace.
Tory backbenchers condemned the inflammatory comments in the speech made by Mr Van Rompuy to mark the 21st anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

They said it proved that David Cameron would have a battle on his hands if he is to prevent extra powers being handed to Brussels.

‘In every member state, there are people who believe their country can survive alone in the globalised world. It is more than an illusion – it is a lie.’

That twat, as Farage pointed out, comes from what is now a non-country - Belgium - so it's no surprise to see an elected head of the EU come out with stuff like that. And David Cameron has no battle on his hands, because there is no intention to prevent further transfers of power to the EU.
Well All this made a interesting read
Since its pretty clear that every politician is as mad as the other, it probrably wont make much difference whoever holds the reins.

I find it funny how people think they're losing their power and rights when to be honest we never really had much power or rights to start with. Yeah you can still vote in whoever you like at the moment, but we've all seen how quickly politicians will U-turn on their principles given the slightest sniff off power. Its almost as if people think British politicians are somehow better or more trustworthy than their European counterparts, in truth they're probrably just as corrupt or dangerous, they are humans afterall.
most people in the UK know more about the x factor contestants than they do with their MPs.

Well, if you in Europe feel that you must be ruled by your 'BETTERS' then all the best.

Naturally your all completely incapable of making any decisions for yourselves and you must be told what to do as your rulers know what you need.

Your economic future will be decided by your leaders with no attention payed to your 'Parliament' who are simply there to rubber stamp your leaders wishes.*

After all, how many of you got a vote on accepting the Lisbon treaty ?

* According to AFP:

The EU 27 are hoping a rewrite can be concluded via a quick and easy procedure that bypasses the European parliament and closes the door on member states who come knocking with wish-lists of their own to re-open chapters of the treaty.

EU President Herman Van Rompuy claimed that reforms are essential to shore up the euro and "to make the European economies more crisis proof."
I wasn't 18 years old back then, otherwise I would've had a vote. The Netherlands voted against the treaty, but the government decided to ignore the people and accepted the treaty anyway.

Did I miss the recent anarchist revolution in New Zealand?
Quote from thisnameistaken :Did I miss the recent anarchist revolution in New Zealand?

we've got our own form of MMP, a centre middle majority ( National ) supported by extreme right wing ( Act ) and The Maori Party ( Indigenous, socialist, self rule )

Somehow it all works well, and your only a phone call from several mp's or cabinet ministers.

We're staying with Queenie rule till she kicks the bucket so as not to hurt her feelings but we'll be becoming a full republic then.

Parts of the country have already seeded ( The Independent Republic of Whangamomona, They've already up to their fourth President.

Presidents

Ian Kjestrup (1989-1999)
After being put on the ballot without his knowledge, he became the first elected President. Served 10 years
Billy Gumboot the Goat (1999-2001)
First elected animal. He won election by eating the other challengers ballots. He died in office after serving for 18 months.
Tai the Poodle (2003-2004)
Tai retired after an assassination attempt left him a nervous wreck.
Murt "Murtle the Turtle" Kennard (2005-present)
The local garage owner fought off strong competition from former president Kjestrup and a cross-dresser called "Miriam" to become the 4th President. He was re-elected in 2009 by one vote."

As you can see we take our politics pretty seriously down these ways....
So you are ruled by an elite, then? This is different to European life in what way?

I'd forgotten that our queen is still your head of state, that's pretty funny and makes all your pompous blathering above look a bit ill-conceived.
Not really, when the locals and the invading honkies (Britain by a short head over France) made a treaty ( Waitangi ) sovereignty as such was never given to the british crown, only day to day administration. We're in a unique situation legally and it's one thats taken a while to come to terms with.

Basicly the Govt Gen approves all legislation but doesn't have a say in what is passed.

We turned down becoming part of Aus in 1904 and we're quite capable of ruling ourselves.

I don't know quite how we're ruled by an elite, our PM's history reads as follows, Key was born in Auckland, New Zealand, only son of George Key and Ruth Key (née Lazar), on 9 August 1961. His father was an immigrant from Great Britain, and a veteran of the Spanish Civil War and World War II.[2] He died of a heart attack in 1967. Key and his two sisters were raised in a state house in Christchurch by his Austrian-Jewish immigrant mother.[3][4]

And if your talking about The Independant Republic of Whangamomona then how many other independant republics have had a goat and a poodle as president ?
Although the Poodle was the subject of a terrorist assassination plot, probably Al Quida.
And the goat died in office - we're feeling like Cuba, all our leaders are targeted !!!!!!!!!

COD Black Ops 2 - Take out The Independant Republic of Whangamomona's Goat.
Quote from hrtburnout :I wasn't 18 years old back then, otherwise I would've had a vote. The Netherlands voted against the treaty, but the government decided to ignore the people and accepted the treaty anyway.

Says it all really.

Please google the meaning of democracy.

Govt by the people, for the people.

Not; - Govt for the people, by the (tiny) minority.

Its not that we feel as if we need to be lead by these people, quite the opposite, just that its pretty clear we can vote or protest or decide all we like and it'll make no difference. Why don't you suggest what we do? Your idea of rebellion seems to consist of being patronising on an internet forum, which I'm afraid dosen't quite cut it either. Your convinced that the system you live under is somehow different, how much power do you really have over what legislation is passed? Sure you might be able to lobby some MPs, but will they listen? Spewing out over worn cliches does not make you a great independant thinker.

The sad truth is that humans are herd animals and like other herd animals there will always be some kind of pecking order.
Of course there is a pecking order because it should be obvious that every person that has an oppinion can't be heard in a resonable amount of time to make decisions. Time is why people elecet representatives; however when the majority of the people can't effect their elected officials actions calls for a revision of the way legislation is passed.

Inorder to support a "rebellion" one must first gather the support to do so. Talking about it is the only way to figure if there is any or gather support. This includes discussions on forums.

People don't suddenly gather together spontaneously and choose to rebell against the current pecking order. I imagine it would be a difficlult process that would require a lot of discussion.

Giving up your vote and accepting the rule of the pecking order definitely will go nowhere.
Quote from legoflamb :Of course there is a pecking order because it should be obvious that every person that has an oppinion can't be heard in a resonable amount of time to make decisions.

There was a pecking order LONG before governments and legislature. It's a basic animalistic instinct; there are alphas, aspiring alphas, and then there is "peasantry."

Bottom line: The world is screwed, humanity is doomed, and everyone sucks.
So, don't do anything cus your not the alpha male ?
( or head bitch, if there are any females on the net )

I suppose it depends on whether or not you want any say in your destiny or if you are comfortable being scammed all your life by your 'betters'.

Anyway, I'm sure that most people will happily ignore anything real going on around them while they immerse themselves in the bedwetting experience of their 'betters' engaging in the pr excercise of a 'royal wedding'

Nothing like good ol boys getting into a bit of cousin luvin !

( Didn't you know their related ? )

They need to breed within the bloodline, remember.
@ MAGGOT

Maybe I should have said, "Of course there is a pecking order, even in modern legislature..."

I guess all i can say is more... oh wait, less power to ya.
For the record, my post was purely facetious... in case the little smiley didn't indicate that
Good news for Brits. All of the cuts we've had thrust upon us (all 7bn worth) is now being spent to bail out Ireland because they used their credit card too much. Which means Highways now don't have the cash to fix the only sealed road round here.

So thanks for that.
@ MAGGOT

I guess I was too dense to pick that up.

Ha! Serves you right for living in Britain.
But why are you helping bailout Ireland? The EU is putting ALOT of money towards bailing out Ireland as it is. And Ireland are rejecting any help that is offered to them so waste of money tbh.
