Anti-Aliasing

Anti-aliasing is used to reduce stair-step patterns on the edges of polygons in games. It gives a smoother, slightly blurred look to the edges. Full scene anti-aliasing accomplishes this by rendering each frame at a larger resolution, then scaling it down to fit the actual screen resolution. This can lower the frame rate by a large amount, while increasing quality by a small amount. Usually, increasing the screen resolution is a better tradeoff than turning on anti-aliasing. Anti-aliasing is only useful for games when a lot of extra graphics performance is available. Intel chipsets with integrated graphics do not support full scene anti-aliasing. Anti-aliased lines are supported in OpenGL* applications.

So it looks like you don't have the AA option because that chipset can't do AA.

Yup

AF is not AA so i have no idea what sjava is sayin.
yup, same thing applies to me my new ddr2 motherboard's default graphics driver can't do AA...which is a pity because my LFS edits will looj like a mess. A good graphics card will probably support AA but I'm not going to risk my new motherboard on new parts for a long time.
Not after a (then) new memory card killed my previous PC

k,tnx for help anyway..

I think he is trying to say why isnt there an AA section, because it is usually directly above or below AF, but we now know why.

Ooh, my bad.

I understood it as "why doesnt my AA work?" instead of "where is my AA?". This is what happens when i read the threat too quickly and dont concetrate on the topic.
if you want AA in game use your nvidia control panel or ATI CCC. Thats what i do and works fine, not as good as other games but it gives it a good smooth feeling

To summarize. His card doesn't support AA. So even in his control panel, there will be no AA options. A bit like trying to tow a caravan with no trailer hitch. your car doesn't support caravans.
