That was my third guess lol, my wifes grandparents are in Guiseley, she lived in Rawdon but we are in Bradford now (insert muslim population gag here).
Quote from mrodgers :If cars were as cheap here as they are over there, everyone could be driving BMWs over here and not having to worry about gas prices rising.

Haha cars cost about 3 times as much here as they do overthere..
Not sure what's worse.. trying to drive on snow covered roads, or the result of the mess that salt makes to your car's shine.

Sick of the salt covering the car form the weekly work commute... the results of a 5 hour handjob

Looking to get a G220 DA in the new year so the paintwork can get a proper fix!

Regards,

Ian
Well you got a bmw + some great snow covered roads......... i don't see why you could hate that combination
Quote from G!NhO :Well you got a bmw + some great snow covered roads......... i don't see why you could hate that combination

add to that the big, wide wheels and lowish ride hight and it gives you a car brilliant on dry roads, but crap on snow and ice.

BTW Ian bloody nice car.
Ach doesn't matter.
Ian while driving:

Nice car but certainly for cocks.

Ian Pics from the Inside please

Searching for an 320Ci but can´t find a proper one, where i live :/
Ian, what are those wheels called?

I thought they were MV2's but I was wrong :/
Your not wrong Jack. They are MV2s.

Very nice car you have there Ian. You should get yourself over to www.detailingworld.co.uk. Be warned though, it can be very addictive. In the last 12 months, I have easily spent in excess of £1500 on detailing equipment. £150 of that was just for the Wax!
If you spent £150 on a tub of wax at least one of the following applies:
  1. You have more money than sense.
  2. You have no value of money, or live in a wonderful world where money is nothing but something to weigh your pocket down
  3. You're a monumental knob.
Being Nathan I'm expected it to be the top one but who knows, eh?
Erm, thanks for that Jamie?

Nothing to do with "money weighing me down". It's just what I like to spend my money on. Not like I feel a need to justify what I do with my money on, but I don't drink, rarely go out and most my money goes into keeping a roof over mine and my partners head. When the odd occasion comes up that I have some spare cash, I sometimes like to treat myself.

After all, you just spent £10,000 on a Motorbike. You don't hear me calling you monumental knob...
I appreciate that Nathan, I think you just took it in a different tone than that of which I was meaning it, being a mate and all (plus me being me) I'm surprised you took me seriously! Perhaps not enough smilies?

Then again, I don't drink and all of my money goes on accomodation and bills, similar to you, and FYI it was £8797.45

But if you were to call me a monumental for buying it I would agree. I could have bought and insured any manner of cars, Clio Sport 182, Honda Civic Type R's or an S2000 (my dream car), etc etc, for the same price that it cost to buy and insure my bike. Perhaps if I had a driving license at the time, I would have done that!

Even though I am considering PX'ing or selling my bike, I'd get £6000 for it and know I would regret it so I'll keep it for at least another year, or two, or three..

On the subject of wax, they did a test on 5th gear which showed that a drive through car wash is better than a handwash, so that's £5 well spent!
I would never call you that for spending £9k on a Bike. It's your money so you can do as you wish, and I would probably have done the same in your situation. You only live once so you may as well make the most of it.

I remember that segment on Fifth Gear. Was pretty interesting, but none of those tests are good for your paint to be honest.

For example...

Black Honda Accord Type-R after years of going through Car Washes or being washed with a sponge.

After some correction...

Much better, I think you will agree.

Pictures are not mine by the way!
I do indeed agree

Do you remember that thread somewhere about some absolute twat (sorry but even you must agree) who bought a new Astra VXR Artic edition and then like spent £8000 on detailing products/machines etc? IT WAS A NEW CAR LOL
Ah yes, I remember that guy. I also admit that he really did go completely overboard, but again, it's his money.

Actually, he spent over THIRTY THOUSAND POUNDS just on the wax. It comes with Diamonds in the presentation box. Madness....
Quote from S14 DRIFT :IT WAS A NEW CAR LOL

...and? "Factory fresh" paint is rarely optimal... just look at the threads on detailing world involving new supercars!

If my car didn't get abused (country roads, grit, salt, dirt, stones, sharp hedges) i'd detail and correct my car... but it'd be a quite job to correct 6 years of paint abuse.

I'll admit he took it a bit far, but it doesn't make him an "absolute twat". We all spend money on things that few other people appreciate (heres my latest - inb4flame), but his doesn't hurt anyone, and i certainly admire the end result.

EDIT - Laugh about the Astra guy all you want, but he bought his last Astra new... and when he traded it in he got exactly what he paid for it in P/X because of the condition!
So you're telling me he paid £20k new (example) and then after 2 years of presumably not turning a wheel, sold it for £20k? The guy is deluded.

I mean I spend like...£12 on a bottle of SDoc100 which I use for my bike and it lasts me 2-3 cleans, and then maybe £10 for some polish which lasts me maybe 5 washes...but that is intesntly silly.

I agree and think detailing is cool, etc...but not at the tune of more than a few hundred quid at most..bearing in mind you could get a completely custom and top quality paint job from some world famous paint shop for no more than a several thousand. Spending tens'o'thousands is daft!!! The max I would ever spend on a vehicle is 100% of it's value, unless I became a millionaire. Which will be never!

Edit- and I agree spend money on what you like but if I was to post up saying that I spent £15000 on my bike getting it detailed you would all call me a rich twat!
Quote from S14 DRIFT :So you're telling me he paid £20k new (example) and then after 2 years of presumably not turning a wheel, sold it for £20k? The guy is deluded.

I dont think it was 2 years (figure in my head is just under a year - but the thread is RIP now), but it was (as is the new one) his daily driver.
surely he could have just got a more expensive car to start with rather than an Astra.
Quote from Jakg :If my car didn't get abused (country roads, grit, salt, dirt, stones, sharp hedges) i'd detail and correct my car... but it'd be a quite job to correct 6 years of paint abuse.

Not quite. MG paint is thin as piss, and soft as hell. You could correct it in about 2 hours, max.

I hate detailing VAGS. They have SUPER TOUGH paint, which proves really hard to correct sometimes.
Quote from Luke.S :surely he could have just got a more expensive car to start with rather than an Astra.

Money doesn't grow on trees, you know...

And from memory the Wax retailed at £8k a pot... but he never said he paid that...
Bought her last Saturday, got insurance today & only just decided that I'd had enough. Drinks petrol pretty quick and has its niggles but for 600 quid, I cant complain!
