Sorry... but that website is disgusting.

1. Super small - 640x480? I am using 1600x1200, so it's really really small.
2. It isn't in the center. Needs to be fixed.
3. These colors don't look good.
4. Background is ugly

The coolest thing about that site, is fact, that only one picture is used. And it still looks so damn good.

Without showing a decent portfolio you dont really have a chance to find someone who gives you money for your work. I mean, those people who have posted in that other thread have apparently bought a website from you. A common nature of a website is, that it is online, visible for others. So why not just post a link to one of those pages?

OK, here we go.

a) Dreamweaver Layouts are always using tables. BAD, because not barrier-free (screenreaders, e.g. for blind people can't read this table crap) and simply not state of the art.
b) If you use http://validator.w3.org to validate your site's html or css, It shows one error for HTML and a few errors for your css because the scrollbar-* things are not part of the css standard iirc.

If you want to learn "good" HTML, then http://bazzinet.info/Semantic should help.

If you do not know what valid (X)HTML and CSS means, then you still have a lot to learn about web design. Check out http://www.webstandards.org

Other remarks about your page:
- Text size is too small
- Use line spacing
- Background image makes the eyes grow tired
- For hyperlinks, use underlining (preferred) or some other visual indicator
- Put your personal info in a <dl> list.

In return for this and other useful advice in this thread, could you move it to an appropriate place? The general LFS forum isn't meant for self-advertising.

php is a bit harder but way more options... just a suggestion

Your html doesn't follow the specification of the doctype you've got set, it therefore fails validation. Your CSS contains a whole load of non-standard properties and has only a small part which is actually valid.

You're clearly exaggerating. His HTML contains 1 error, which is the absence of an ALT tag for an image. Hardly what I would call a big mistake.

His CSS has more errors, that's true. But that has to do with the colouring of the scrollbar in IE through CSS, which is non-standard markup. It shouldn't be used, but it won't cause any problems in other browsers.

BUT, he should stop using tables and switch to completely CSS based sites

The design of the site doesn't do anything for me, but really, there are sites with MUCH more errors and MUCH worse markup.

I agree this forum isn't the best place to advertise your business, but I think he means well, people are being overly negative here. IMO!

Stop discussing guys.. The site is simply not valid (neither HTML nor CSS) because it is Dreamweaver "coded" (= built / created).

Think about your sentence. PHP is simply to "generate" HTML code. In any case you'll have to use HTML. Except you want the user to see a blank page though.

You're right, the site isn't valid. All I was trying to say that the html is not terrible just because of one alt tag missing.

And Dreamweaver isn't that bad. I handcode my sites, but I use Dreamweaver for it. I've tried other editors but I just like DW the most. And if you compare Dreamweaver with other programs that are able to generate sites it definitely isn't the worst around.
