Meet Alonso and Schumacher at Indianapolis

27 June 2006

Reigning world champion Fernando Alonso and Ferrari's Michael Schumacher are just two of the Formula One stars scheduled to meet race fans at Indianapolis on Thursday. They and a host of other drivers will be participating in public Q&A and autograph sessions as part of the build-up to Sunday’s United States Grand Prix.

Other famous names due to take part are Juan Pablo Montoya, Jacques Villeneuve, Nico Rosberg, Christijan Albers, Jenson Button, Christian Klien, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Franck Montagny, Tiago Monteiro, Takuma Sato, Ralf Schumacher and Mark Webber.

The autograph sessions will take place from 0900 to 1500 hours in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Pagoda Plaza. A separate wristband is required for entry to each driver’s session and these will be distributed in the Plaza from 0800 onwards.

Meeting the drivers will not be the only draw on Thursday. Fans will also be able to take a close look at the Formula One teams’ garages and cars, in the now traditional public pit walkabout. This takes place between 0800 and 1200 and is open to anyone holding a race-day ticket.

Other Thursday attractions will include a display of cars from the famous IMS Hall of Fame Museum, photo opportunities with the US Grand Prix’s grid girls, live music and a special Bridgestone display featuring one of Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari race cars along with two Formula One racing simulators.

Curious to know what they are.
If it's a Ferrari you'll be driving in the simulator, my guess goes to the newest Sony F1 game. Alternatively, my guess goes to rFactor with the BMW-Sauber.
At least 2 Formula 1 teams (and/or their sponsors) have rFactor-based custom builds for trackside promotion. I suspect the racing sims at the US GP will be those.

Which two teams? Sauber and...? I guess I missed something

Nevermind, I found out it was Williams
They had F1 games like this spread across the corporate hospitality at Silverstone during the GP weekend. If I remember correctly they were playing F1 2006. Captured the game screen itself on video which I have at home if I need to check the game name
