Comparison of high-end pedals?
Hi, all.

I was wondering whether anyone out there has experience of more than one set of high-end pedals. I have been looking at the VPP, ECCI and BRD sets and am currently leaning towards getting the VPP. I know Tristan, for example, has ECCI pedals. Is there anyone out there who has tried more than one of these or any other high-end pedals and could offer some comparative comments?

Basically what I am after is rock-solid reliability, a long soft throttle pedal and a realistic short-throw brake with strongly increasing pressure as you depress it.

Cheers,
--Jason.
I'm currently torn between BRD Speed 7 pedals and building my own. ECCI are too much for me though I'm sure they're great pedals, just not what I'm willing to spend.

The BRD pedals look like basic spring resistance, turning a pot type, so I wonder how good the brake really feels. I'd love to build a load cell type brake pedal.

I too would like to know what people think who've had a chance to try a variety of high end pedals.

Bumping once in case anyone missed it the first time. What's the deal -- isn't there anyone out there who has splurged on the good stuff re pedals?
I've got ECCI pedals with the PMBII option (basically an extra spring to give the brake a more realistic feel, although it is still movement rather than force based).

I think it's awesome.

Firstly it's very very well built. It'll never go wrong, and if the pots wear it's easy to change them.
Secondly the preload and the maximum spring force on both pedals is confguarable (I have max on preload so the pedals have a high initial resistance so I don't accidentally press them a bit, and a medium high maximum force so my ankles don't get too tired).
Thirdly you can move the pedals laterally, vertically and angularly (lean) as you prefer
Fourthly they are much better with shoes rather than socks
Fifthly they plug straight into my Black Momo (and the DFP iirc)
Sixthly you can add a clutch pedal at a later date, although this will require a USB adaptor mod too rather than interfacing through the wheel

The only downside I can think of is the price (but it's worth it), and the metal construction means the pedals get cold. As I sometimes play after a shower (i.e. barefeet) this can be irritating because your feet go to sleep.

I would recommend them to anyone. I prefer them to the Speed7 pedals personally (although my experience on Speed7 is only a few hours on a cyberseat), as the travel is less long, and the feel is much higher.

Thanks, Tristan. Really useful.
