I agree, as long as he likes it then thats all that matters. It's just some trends like rat look or whatever, are the ones I don't get. Why would you make your car look worse?? And for the 100th time, it was a Mondeo!....MONDEO!!!!!

Oh, and as for the Lexus, I've had some hate towards but it bothers me none. Most people just say I look like a drug dealer when driving it! As soon as this stupid government thing is taken off my car (6 months left. Woop!), the Lexus is going straight to a scrapyard. Then I might buy something sensible. Integra Type R's are very cheap over here....*scratches chin*

So yeah, I haven't really told everyone what car I drive nowadays(well I can't drive anything at the moment, damn police) but the car I own now is a VW Golf MK2 and have to say i find it actually quite brilliant for the money I paid it for, everything is in an awesome condition(well only the exterior is beaten and rusty but I am planning to fix the car completely this month already, since I'm getting my license back in February)



This is an image from somewhere around October or something, and yes, I am replacing those front lights completely, since they are already in a bad condition, the yellow tint was just a pisstake, and done for fun.

I have plans to overhaul most of the car, including repairing the rustpatches, fixing the paintwork, getting some actual black bumpers, or try to make the ones attached look less crappy. Actually ordered some stuff last few days that include a susp kit, and new lights and a GTi lip, and next I plan to buy some wheels for it... Only thing I actually want for them is get some unique wheels(something not usually seen in Finland... Like Ronal Turbos for example) and get an adjustable susp kit in the near future.



And yes, it was a cheap car, rusty and ugly, but goddamn it is awesome though. Doesn't consume much fuel, is literally cheap to own and most spare parts cost almost nothing at all.(needed a new throttle cable, expecting it to cost a lot, but I was surprised it only cost under 10 euros!)

As for the paint, some cutting compound and a DA or machine polisher (which aren't that hard to use actually, you have to be a COMPLETE moron to go through paint with that) will have that looking awesome again.

brother bought a cressida today has a new daily/project since the soarer is taking longer than expected to get roadworthy

stock, clean as ****. Only plans are to weld the diff up, chuck on some watanabes or SSR mesh and find out how to lower it cheaply that doesn't involve using an angle grinder. apparently ra60 struts fit, so may be an option as they have bigger brakes anyway..

You don't need a welded diff anyway, you only get sideways on fields and snow.

if you do alot of slow cornering and parking they can shred tyres pretty fast

uhm, can cause a bit of understeer when initially turning into a bend. also heard of snap oversteer issues but never really seen it first hand

can be pretty scarey in the wet, thankfully it doesn't rain too much in perth so its not an issue
brother has a super tight TRD 2-way in the soarer, even that can be a bit sketchy in the wet, specially if its the first rains of winter.

unless you plan to drift it fairly often the cons usually outweigh the pro's

welded diffs are pretty unforgiving...a decent 1.5way or even a torsen will work and be a hell of a lot safer

Okay, and will it add extra stress on the drivetrain?

I just hate the open diff, could get à lsd but welding is à cheap temporary alternative.

adds extra stress to the axles/halfshafts, only part i can think of that would be directly affected by it

unless you're consistantly launching or clutch kicking it you'd probably be fine
