The Guinea Pig Club: Not a film but a play, written by Sid Watkins' wife Susan, about Archie McIndoe's pioneering treatment of burns victims during the second world war.

It's premiering at York Theatre Royal and it's a good show. Tonight was opening night and Ron Dennis and Dave Richards both turned up.
Quote from MAGGOT :Wait, that's a thing? How the hell does that work?

it's a faith based competition. These guys apparently fly around the world and try to spot as many different species of birds as they can and they note them down. There's no way to verify results, but it's all done on a gentleman's agreement type thing.

That's not a good burger, that's a piece of shit.
+1 for Looper, thanks guys.
Quote from -NightFly- :Expendables 2. Damn it was fun, crowd applaused when chuck appeared for the first time....

Stolen (Nicolas Cage)
Not so bad action movie ... 6-7/10
i just watched it last night, well this morning if we look at that way

The funniest thing was:

Stalonne-I also heard a rumor,that a cobra bit you
Chuck-yeah its true, and after 5 day of agonizing pain, the cobra died
XD
so cheezy but funny
Started season 2 of Misfits, a great show.
Dredd and Looper.

Two fantastic movies. Had a few mates complain that Dredd was a bit simple with no real story.....kinda wondered what the hell they were expecting. I thought it was awesome.

I liked Dredd too, but I had low expectations. Actually that makes it sound as though I didn't think it was good, when really it's a great action film, and might actually be the first film that I have seen in 3d which didn't make me think it was a waste of time. Some excellent moments.
The main thing is that Dredd is in no way related to Stallone's awful film, and a million times better, even if it's nothing incredibly original.

Also saw The Sweeney. They should have let Clarkson, May and Hammond make the whole film. Director just wants to remake his favourite Hollywood scenes, and some of it is just awful!! I burst out laughing when our "hero" Winston is protected from assault rifle fire by a wooden door.
If you boards of canada, post-rock, dark ambient, amd watching whole families die realistically at the same time, Sinister is your movie.
Homeland second season nailing it..
Quote from Boris Lozac :Homeland second season nailing it..

Can't help feeling the story has finally ran out of steam for me. Just getting a bit stupid now.

Started watching the Wire though, that's a series and a half
Well didn't see that coming in episode 4, that soon, but still all 4 episodes were just top-notch.
Went to see Looper the other day, it was brilliant.
Skyfall - 8/10

If I'm being honest I'll have to say that Daniel Craig as Bond has never sat well with me for whatever the reasons. While Casino Royale was a good movie, QoS was more explosions than anything else and the issues that this movie had in being made I was beginning to have reservation about it.

However, any worries that I had where quickly stored away. Craig is brilliant in this film, the script has a perfect mix of action and dialogue. One thing that did strike me was it's visually a great looking film, the silhouetted fight scene to the beautiful grey of the Highlands of Scotland the cinematographery is stunning. The film towed the line perfectly between the 'Classic Bond' with his witty one liners but bleeds seeminglessly into 'Bourne Bond', a man who has a back story which is often not touched on in the movies. Because of this, it feels as if Skyfall has been influenced by the likes of Nolan's Batman films and the Bourne series. Skyfall holds it's own well and generally excited to see where they go with this now.

All this leads me nicely onto Javier Bardem, who has to be the best villain so far. He carries a real sense of threat and intimidation, you always fear that he can destroy anything he wants to, with a simple click of a finger. The final meeting between the 2 protagonists is a tense, thrilling ride yet keeps the charming humour which made Bond what it was back in the 60's/70's & 80's.

Can't wait till the next one, and I hope that Craig remains as Bond for a while yet and that Sam Mendes is given free regin to go on with it.....please.
Yep agree with all that, particularly the middle paragraph:

Can't wait to see how the "new" characters integrate into it. The new Q is certainly very different but definitely more suited to more modern stuff. The only gripes I had were the lack of a "proper" Bond car chase (aka him in an Aston with Rocket Launchers/Grenades e.t.c.) and a fair few "realism" issues - but I suppose this is James Bond so I could perhaps let that slide
No-one's mentioned Cloud Atlas yet? I went in not knowing anything about it and came out really moved. It's strange and very ambitious. Very long too. Amazing performances from Hanks and Weaving (and Doona Bae and Jim Broadbent, I just looked them up). Terrific score...

Wow.
Carnage - good
casa de mi padre - for ferrel hardcore fans

Wow.

Read the book.

Movie is not exactly what I'd call "good," but it's certainly ambitious and at times moving, inspiring, exciting, funny, thoughtful. More than you get from most movies these days.
Just re-watched Touching the Void. I'd forgotten how gripping and visually stunning it was in the ~9 years since I first saw it. I see it's already been recommended a few times in this thread, but I have to add mine to that list.
Quote from DeadWolfBones :Read the book.

From the synopsis it sounds like a slightly more complicated narration of the theme explored by Jack London's "The Star Rover". Speaking of, there's a movie sort of based on that mentioned earlier in this thread, by amp88 I believe, called "The Jacket".

Recommend a film you've seen lately.
