You know what would be good
My idea is to e-mail to Top Gear telling them about this game asking them to try it out and see how they do on it. For any1 who watches Top Gear it would be a good idea and they could say how realistic they think it is and what improvements need to be made. It could help the game and we whould see how crap they are on here . In a previous episode they go on GT to do laps on there and do laps in real life and see how diferent it is. what do you all think of this idea ?
i think its good as long as i didnt get told off for stealing james mays nickname
lol bet he would be shit on lfs, he drives like a pissed granny
The only way they'd do another comparison between sim and real life is if LFS boldly stepped up and said, Gran Tourismo failed - but try this.

Then LFS would get flamed because that actual report said sure it's real, you just dont get the fear factor.

I respect Top Gear's view on cars, but their view on racing computer games isn't an opinion I value.
lol ok, but they may suggest how to improve and they may like it if they use DFP and get the feel of the stering. when they went on GT they were using a controller.
Why would they be of any help to LFS' development

The three of them can't drive a car properly around a track. Clarkson's time in the old resaonably priced car around the track which he has probably driven around many laps before, got thrashed.

Captain slow isn't any better and all I ever see the `Hamster` do is power-slides.

Theres probably people in this community (going by a previous thread) involved in real life racing with similar cars to LFS who have a far better idea on how the cars should react.

As much as I enjoy top gear, I don't want to see LFS on it as I don't think it would help LFS in anyway.

ok then...............
IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, ask them to get the stig to have a go, although we wouldnt be able to get a verbal answer out of him. hmm maybe he could just type a messsage on the screen with his opinion. lol

p.s., although this would be no use to the development, it would make more people aware of lfs`s existance
I'm fairly sure this has been done already.

As in, lots of us have emailed Top Gear saying, "Try it, it's really good, honest!" in the hope they'd feature it on TV and raise some publicity for LFS.

I don't particularly value their opinion on games either, but as far as getting more people to try LFS, it could have proven fruitful.

The way they (Top Gear) trash any little thing just to get a laugh I wouldn't want them to review LFS at all. Especially in its unfinished state.

Exactly what I was thinking. Will hardly help the game become more aware as they will just end up promoting something like GT4 because it sounds `better` and has real cars/tracks.

they would just laugh at the "copies" of cars and made up tracks, and then say it was too hard and therefore crap
Maybe once we reach S2 final (well, as in non-alpha), but certainly not before. They'll emphasise the bad bits/silly bits and it won't get the professional review it needs.

The car names are sure to be ribbed too.
yeah didnt think about that, well i think most of you dont want this to happen atlest untill the final version is out.
Maybe Clarkson would like LFS if it had Ford GT with you actually don't need stop for repairs/fuel every 5 kms

lol it is really bad that car, breaks down every 10th of a second
^^ Really? damn, that's one of my favourite cars The '69 not the '05
the 05 is the 1 he has and its always breaking down on him

its latest fault? the rev limiter cuts in at 600 rpm
There was a segment on 5th gear where there was a "champion" PS2 rally racer (don't remember which game) who was making the transition to real rally. He got some sponsers and actually bought one of Richard Burn's old Subies.
That's the most I've seen about video game racing on the show.
The best way for them to do it, would be to get experienced guys and girls from this community to give a demo.
My idea
- Jeremy et al have a go with a good cockpit setup, give their opinions etc
- Some expereinced racers come on and receive questions about the game and community and how many 000's of miles they have driven.
- Experienced drivers have a race againt Jeremy et al and pnwn them and everyone larfs.

It would fit in to the fun format of the show and no doubt we would all love it.

Unfortunately, I also think that the general public would find it quite boring compared to the real life driving / banging / thrashing those guys do.
So, it will never happen I don't think.

yeah peob but would be good 4 then to do that !
I sent them an email after the GT4 show. As anticipated I got no response.
i say YES!

then we could have a real comparison between life and LFS
i think that they should test the new game coming out....rug muncher 2010, then test it against the real life counterpart. see how close to real life they have gotten it.

THIS CONVERSATION HAS BEEN DONE, WHY CANT PEOPLE USE THE ****ING SEARCH BUTTON

im in a good mood, honest
