Was this even captured on the broadcast feed? I would be extremely surprised if not, however I didn't catch it. Could have been a big moment, especially if Rebellion were turned hard left after the contact.

It was broadcast yes. Was sketchy for sure.

next weekend the annual 24h Nürburgring runs again, and again I can't make it to the track Looking at the starter list I miss the times when 24h Specials were fighting for the win, not just GT3 cars. And less and less oddball cars make the starter list each year.

Race will be from Sunday to (Whit-) Monday this year. Top rows look typically GT3 heavy, must be almost 30 cars in that class, but surprisingly Schulze Motorsport, (Gran Turismo's) Yamauchi, Schulze, Schulze, Krumm is almost Top Ten atm with their Nismo GTR GT3.

sooooooooooooooooo, race was just red flagged. Most likely due to rain and fog, but no further info yet.

Yeah fog and heavy rain... Imgaine how much water is in the pitlane, I don't want to imagine how the situation is out there on the Nordschleife.

sucks that there is only that static pitlane camera, would like some onboard shots or similar just to see whats going on out on the track.

could not get the onboards as the tv helicopters couldn't lift off, which gathers those signals... so the onboards were only emitted into the aether.

oh ok, never knew the system worked like that. Thought they had a sort of antenna system around the track feeding the signals into a cable-based system. So the normal cameras from around the track are relayed through the helicopters aswell?

Those poor mechanics, repairing all the cars now while the drivers take a nap None the less I'd happily volunteer for a mechanic job

From my knowledge since I work in the TV industry, it's this:

static location cams hard wired with fibre or another type of cable back to the production truck
incar cams wireless, receivers in helicopter (which if the ceiling is too low they can't take off)
pitlane handheld cams (big cameras on shoulder, industry term is handheld because it's not on a tripod :P) usually have an assistant with the RF transmitter pointing it at a receiver around the course
