TEST PATCH 0.6K2 (now K26)

Giving the possibility to have better experience is a good thing IMHO. Other racing games have similar requirements when it comes to bandwidth and server owners should know their own connections's limits.
I'm all in favour of the change, though it remains to be seen just how much it'll help. Latency won't change, clearly, but yeah it ought to make a single lost packet less of a big deal...
Wondering where you'd stand on reverse configurations at Rockingham?
I see both sides of the argument fwiw.

I see both sides of the argument fwiw.

From the Rockingham thread:
Quote from Scawen :I don't really know what you mean by a licensing thing. I suppose you imagine we wanted to do it, asked Rockingham and they denied it. But no such conversation took place! It's simply that we don't want to add unrealistic things if possible. Reverse configs at real tracks are often dangerous because of the design of the barriers. Using the recently added start positions, we think you can simply use a layout to create reverse configurations.

Pic of looking 1st time K9 version.

Gonna test track in all way, mainly for finding creative methods and testing track overall.

EDIT: I just add few replays and pics, some of them have explained on replay.

About those pics, I see Z-area on this grass pool is 0.00. I have never visited on Rockingham or even anywhere else excluding Norway, Sweden and Estonia, but I assume it's only an error-related, though no complaints is given.

In fact, it is compared about Westhill. One thing there is not in Rockingham and vice versa. Finding a full potential being a creative is actually fun, specially when it is about a test patch.

Not gonna suggest any, you know anyway what I am going to ask, hehe... ( Also, no need to explain any, as I told, no complaints is going to have, even it looks like. )

The flickering point was the only one what I did found. Small but reported anyway just in case.

CPU is Intel i7 6600K / GPU is nVidia 970 GTX / OS is MS Win10 64-bit

Max Fps is 1200+ with max graphics. No fps drops found at now.

EDIT2: Found something. Check a .mpr file called little bug. Check it on 2:55.55 and forward. Cockpit view and chase view and compare it to TV view. You see there is floating start lights and also might notice a somewhat a fps drop. Slightly but looking carefully, the fps drops fast and a lot. Still, only a fraction though.

EDIT3: Found again something. I highly assume once AI is finished race, it should never pick up the racing pace again? Interestingly, they did. 1 lap race and it did look they went for a 2nd like a mad man.

Trying to reproduce this on other track(s) with or without any lyt

check interesting.spr ( 1 lap race. I was just messing with AI when all of sudden...)

THE PLAN!

I plan to release an incompatible test patch tomorrow evening (Thursday).

Some of you may wish to try the current incompatible version, K21, on the programmer thread. Tomorrow's will be similar, and with the Rockingham with the sunset weather, and I'll see if I can squeeze in another update or two before the test.

I don't recommend that patch for everyone, but if you have an interest in the layout editor or InSim, then it might be good to have a look.

The change log would be a good place to start.

After Thursday's Test Patch, the plan is to do a full release on Saturday.

I thought I would have to face the sun during the laps Thumbs up . Rockingham is seriously beautiful ! GJ guys !
K23 lol.

next 0.6L soon!
..
"New packet IS_OCO can be used to override some or all start lights"

Does this mean insim can now control placed "temporary" lights around a layout?

Excuse my ignorance i know very little about how insim works
Yes.
..
Wow Dave, that's a really nice idea, and seems well implemented.
And good job to Scawen for this incompatible test patch, I'll test the new weather later Smile
..
We'll try this really soon. Big grin
Surely you only care if there are any cars in the 'red trigger', if not then any cars in the 'yellow trigger' otherwise set it to green?

Either way, you'd have to make sure the timing/trigger areas are enough to let a car safely leave if the light is only green for a short time before someone triggers it again.
..
Uh-Oh
Found this on K23, slight bugs, more info on pics

Noticed afterwards that the problem is on me, and not in LFS, every track flickers for me, but nothing fatal.

Actually, on that T2 on oval corner, fps actually increases a bit, while elsewhere it is very steady ( checking from max fps, but then again... who cares )

That distance tool however, is not working functionally, maybe specific track or track environment itself, who knows, again not a big deal.

Otherwise, functional patch!

EDIT: This is known "anomaly" in all the place, except this one was a pretty cool, but looks too ridiculous, happens in most parts of tirewalls in Rockingham, and trees on Westhill, like physical element is there but no hitbox.

Easy to fix this by user by simply putting an object smoothly inside of tirewalls. But I guess it was supposed to give an actual damage for a car by being hitted to that

1 minute and 20 seconds to forward, cheers.

edit2: track is same RO9 and 1st corner after chicane.

K24 is now available in the first post! It is slightly incompatible so I recommend all should update.

I hope it's the final incompatible version before tomorrow's version.

Changes from 0.6K23 to 0.6K24 :

Translations :

More translation updates. Thank you translators!

Interface :

Text command /setlap now works in practice and qualifying

InSim :

Packet IS_CSC to report changes in car state (start or stop)
Zbyte added to CarContObject structure to report car's altitude
Avoiding sending IS_SLC packets to old version InSim guests
Updated the K24 to K25 as I didn't want the lap number shown when lap timing is not available.

Lap number is no longer shown if lap timing is not available. For example on an open config, if checkpoints are not added, there used to be a number 1 shown at top right. Now that number is not shown.

1.0 MB update if you already have K23 : https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/88821
Updated to K26. Available in first post.

1.1 MB download if you already have K23 : https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/88821

Changes from 0.6K25 to 0.6K26 :

Translations :

More translation updates. Thank you again translators!

Paths :

If car starts outside path it will keep searching to find the path

InSim :

Pit speed limiter now switched off if car is moved out of pit lane
